Coaching - mediocre. Zimmer is a good (if overrated) D coordinator but isn't a good overall manager. He is horrible on offense. He's a bit of an enigma to me in this respect because its clear he recognizes his deficiencies on offense, hires an OC, cedes control of the offense to the OC, but then tries to micromanage him. Just very bizarre

Defense -very mediocre. They have some big "names" and contracts, but their performance is simply average. This is not a dominant D. They can look great for stretches, but then have stretches where they just can't stop the O and just cannot get off the field. For long, TIME CONSUMING drives.

Offense -again, average, maybe slightly above. Can look great against bad Defenses. But against good or even average but aggressive defense, they can crumble. OLine is improving but still not good. Elflein is a mess. Good RB and WRs, but Cousins is inconsistent and lacks confidence. When things are going well he looks like a top 5 QB. But he's not trustworthy when the pressure is on.

Special teams - ouch. No more to be said.

6-3. against teams with a combined record 31-41. they've played 3 teams with a winning record and are 1-2.

I think we will squeak into the playoffs due to our easy schedule, but will lose on the Road in the WC round.
The pressure was on all game and he continued to answer with TD passes in the red zone to take the lead. Penalties and bad play calling are what killed us. I think cousins responded pretty well to the pressure for the most part. I can tell you he didn’t choke that’s for sure

We lost on a last-second field goal on the road at one of the toughest places to play in the NFL. Am I depressed about it? Yeah. Could we have won? Sure. Should we have won? Probably. But you know what? The Chiefs had to play their absolute best, at home, to barely outlast a pretty mediocre effort by us.

Y'all can give up hope if you want. I'm down, but I choose to hang in there. I still like our team.
I’m about to be with you when it comes to the b*tch session. We lose a game and the finger pointing starts, mainly at one person and guys act like the season is over. Lot of season left

And inaccurate throws in big spots, a slide before the sticks, and not seeing open receivers.

.. and that Cousins has turned a corner.

All phases showed flashes but also made big mistakes. 6-3 is so different from being 7-2, and it'll feel even worse if GB wins today.
Cousins didn’t have any turnovers. If anything he was inaccurate today which doesn’t happen often. If it wasn’t for him we would have been blown out. But when do the Vikings lose and nobody blames cousins for the loss? It literally never happens
I think I've stated that all phases were to blame for this loss, including Cousins. But that's the nature of being a qb, you touch the ball so much, you obviously have a more direct effect on the outcome of games. But like the CHI game, his missed passes today could have made the difference between winning and losing. I think we can say the same for GB and Rodgers. He was probably the difference in a couple of wins so far this year. Cousins had some nice intermediate throws today, but he never gave his receivers a chance. He played scared. His performance was part of the reason they lost today, including some questionable play calling and a couple of big plays given up by the D

It blows my mind how he will call a really great series where we match down the field and score, like the series when Rudy scored. Perfect balance of pass and run. An excellent called series that ends up in a great score
Then it's like he says Man that worked perfectly. So I'm not doing that the rest of the game.
I just keep replaying all the stupidity I saw today, and I gotta stop cuz right now my freakin blood pressure is so high I feel my temples and corrated arteries pounding.
Sometimes I absolutely HATE being such a hard core fan.
And I also have the wife pissed off die to the few " bad words" Iet fly when they made the game winning FG. She said I'm shutting the basement door till you quit cussing and acting like an idiot. Just come up when your done .
Lol. I'm still down here cause I still can't calm down.
Such a heartbreaking team we follow
I'm right there with you. Today pretty much embodied what it feels like to be a Vikings fan: a game they should have and could have won if they just stopped getting in their own way. I put this one on the coach today. Pam Oliver reported heading into or out of half that he said something to the effect of, "we need to stop being so fancy on O and just run the ball."
For one, why would you reveal that to the world? Secondly, that sounds like bad Zimmer micromanaging his OC again. Let Stefanski do his thing! We got really predictable in the second half, running on early downs and making KC's D look better than it really is. Where the hell was Diggs today? I also hold Zimmer accountable for HIS D not getting stops when we needed them and HIS secondary (stocked with so many high picks) let so many long balls and an idiotic long run too. Just a cluster F all around. Probably best to go for a long walk in the woods or any activity to get our minds off this frustrating franchise we feel compelled to follow.

Were you out on the field? Did you know the play call? Did you see those open WRs all over the field? Did you know what number read they were? The answer is no. The announcers said more than once there was nobody open on more than 1 play. Yeah the slide before the sticks was dumb, he was inaccurate today (when he's usually not) but outside of that he played good enough for us to win but his defense didnt step up, his OL couldnt stop getting penalties and his OC crumbled under pressure at the end of that game. You hunt for shi* and try to find things he did wrong. I can watch game film for any QB any week and find "open" WRs they "missed". The announcers mentioned Matt Moore missing Hill in the redzone today but said it was only a half field read for him away from where Hill was. It happens all the time. Aaron Rodgers missed a WIDE OPEN WR on a zero blitz by KC last week and he's the "best in the game". I'm starting to think you need to find a new hobby outside of hunting for things that Cousins did wrong each game. I will admit what he did wrong like I did above but there was a lot more to this loss outside of Kirk Cousins. We wouldnt have been in the game if it wasnt for Cousins

I agree with this. No reason to give up hope and overreact to one game, it's part of the ups and downs of a football season. What this does it put more pressure on our game in Dallas next week. Didn't a few on this board say they were going to that game?
It's certainly not a reaction to one game. I felt this way before the start of the season and nothing has happened to give me hope of more than that. 9 to 10 wins and then ousted in the playoffs. When kirk starts aiming instead of throwing, the game is over, and he did that from the start today. Also not enough air under the deep throws...when he presses he stinks. In primetime, in prove it games, he cant hang. Doesnt have the disposition. Nothing is going to change that.

A couple big plays given up? It was a lot more than just a couple plays. His performance today was nowhere comparable to the Chicago game. He was sacked once today. 6 times vs Chicago. He threw 3 TDs, 0 vs Chicago. We put up 23 points today, 6 vs Chicago. No less he had Thielen in that Chicago game. It's not comparable.

How is the Chiefs game with Matt Moore at QB a prove it game but a game like Philly is not? Because KC has one more win than Philly? Philly beat both GB and Chicago. Teams we lost to. And Cousins shredded Philly. But that isnt a prove it game but this game was? lol ok....

Because I am not just commenting on this game, I'm responding to a post about people over reacting to this game by pointing out that my reaction is not particularly a reaction to this game at all. I am reacting to the limitations of our QB and the restriction that places on this team's top end potential. This was a game that once again illustrated those limitations. I'm not personally all that surprised or disappointed with the loss.

I was not on the field and don't know the plays called. You weren't either and that hasn't stopped you from ripping the game called by the OC.

If this team has top end potential, the defense sure didnt show it today given they couldnt stop a backup QB when it mattered. I'm not sure why our QB is the one that limited this team today. If our defense held them when it mattered and didnt give up points after points and we lost, maybe you have an argument but that didnt happen today and Kirk Cousins didnt "hold this team back" today. If anything, he kept us in the game. Our defense failed us today. We shouldnt be allowing Matt Moore to score 26 points on us. Period

I'm not saying he's the only reason we lost today. I explicitly said the opposite up stream. Still, if he played competently, this team would likely have won today. He didnt play competently.
