Chiefs post game

Post by VikingPaul73 »

We’ve lost to 2 backup QBs

This team simply is not a legit contender.

:wallbang: too many key plays negated by penalties on the offensive line. Defense plays too soft in positions. No way in hell they should convert 17 yards on 2nd and 24. We are just the middle of the road team and got outcoached again.

If Mahomes had played, we’d have lost by 17

People will blame Kirk - he had one of his bad days today - but WTF was that play-calling about in the last 5 minutes?! Offense in particular. The two 3-and-outs were just about the worst playcalling sequence that I've seen from the Vikings in years. :wallbang: :wallbang: :wallbang: :wallbang: :wallbang: :wallbang: :wallbang: :wallbang:

We just find ways to lose when we really need it. Stupid #### penalties. Bailey missing that extra point allowed them to tie it up instead of having to go for it on 4th down. Colquitt shanked the last punt.
Our DBs were torn up by Kelce, Hill and Watkins. Let a mid level RB run that long TD. We just gave that game away like we do in the big games we really need.
It sucks man but we have a history of this crap.
This is a damn game that we didnt lose, we gave it away. That's my opinion.

Again, cousins might have been inaccurate today but he was also the reason we were in the game and had the lead multiple times. It wasn’t because of our defense or our running game.

The two reasons we lost this game:

1: Zim was out coached

2: stefanski choked in crunch time

Kirk throws it to Ham when it opens and its 2nd and 5. Kirk is a SUPER WASP and a bit of a bird brain as his slide on the 3rd down run illustrated. There are lots of reasons for the loss, but this illustrates once again that kirk is almost great, and also that he sucks.

I guess we can stop worrying about Stefanski getting poached by another team for a head coaching position now?

There were plays where our offense got the better of their D, there were plays when theirs got the better of ours. In the end, we lost to a team on the road that took the Pat's to OT in the AFC championship game because of a bad punt and a missed extra point.

Now, they didn't have their top 5 QB, but we didn't have one of those either.

It blows my mind how he will call a really great series where we match down the field and score, like the series when Rudy scored. Perfect balance of pass and run. An excellent called series that ends up in a great score
Then it's like he says Man that worked perfectly. So I'm not doing that the rest of the game.
I just keep replaying all the stupidity I saw today, and I gotta stop cuz right now my freakin blood pressure is so high I feel my temples and corrated arteries pounding.
Sometimes I absolutely HATE being such a hard core fan.
And I also have the wife pissed off die to the few " bad words" Iet fly when they made the game winning FG. She said I'm shutting the basement door till you quit cussing and acting like an idiot. Just come up when your done .
Lol. I'm still down here cause I still can't calm down.
Such a heartbreaking team we follow

Many many reasons that the Vikings lost this game:

KC was selling out to stop the run, especially on early downs, and the offence couldn't take advantage of that. Why? Bad play calling, dropped passes, inaccurate throws. So the offensive blame can get spread around. But they scored 23, so if the defense plays well, 23 should be enough. But they didn't play all that well...AGAIN. I've been saying it all year. Overrated! They're not terrible by any means but not good enough to assist in going deep in the playoffs. Kicker misses an XP (this kicker is unreliable), Punter shanks one in a crucial situation. When you add all this up, and then add to that good play from KC QB, and kicker, penalties at bad times, and just just plain bad luck (fumbles not being recovered) = LOSS. It was a team loss.

.. and that Cousins has turned a corner.

All phases showed flashes but also made big mistakes. 6-3 is so different from being 7-2, and it'll feel even worse if GB wins today.

I was at the game. It was a pretty low energy effort all around. Defense gave up big plays, special teams was poor, and Cousins played poorly. I don't know if it showed on TV but he missed a lot of open guys. Not just inaccurate, flat out didn't see guys open. Close game but way too many long plays by KC.

These are the kind of games that the Vikings usually choke or give a game away and guess what....they did it again. I am beginning to believe that this team is just cursed. In the NFL, to really be a top tier team, to be one of the best, you HAVE to win on the road. This is why the Vikings have yet to ascend to the top tier teams and that is because in games like the one today against the Chiefs they gave it away, again.

Here are reasons why:
1. Coaching
In the last quarter alone anyone can see how effective our blitz packages are, but we do not use them enough. In a couple of instances we almost got turnovers off the blitz. Just don't know why the Vikings don't do more of it. I just don't know how the last two drives the offense had the ball were just AWFUL!!!! They took know time of the clock and they were both three and outs. This is what you call CHOKING!!!!! This is where it would be nice to have a QB who can run and get us out of these plays that break down. Cousins is just a sitting duck back there.
2. Offensive Line
There are just too many positive plays that are being called back because of stupid penalties. Elflein is just overmatched pretty much every game this years. Why Dakota Dozier or even Dru Samia are not getting reps is beyond me. Dalvin Cook could really not get anything going on the ground today.
3. Defensive backs
Can someone tell me what kind of pass coverage Trae Waynes was playing on the deep ball to Tyreek Hill on the drive with the field goal to tie it up? I have seen high school players with better coverage than that. Rhodes again seemed lost out there. Rhodes and Elflein right now are our biggest liabilities.
4. Kicking game
What is it with Vikings and kickers? I know Bailey just won the award for special teams player, but missing that extra point was huge. Also, late in the fourth Colquitt cannot have a shank punt there for only 20 yards deep in Vikings territory and give them that short of a field. Kicking game just killed us today.

Again, also having Thielen reinjure his hamstring was big, but these are the games YOU HAVE TO WIN and not give them away.
