All I can think of reading this thread is how low our standards for QB play have gotten. When Ponder is a little better than his normal, pathetic self, we should PRAISE him?!! Okay. He wasn't a brutal as usual yesterday. Great job!!!

Without reading the posts here, no matter how many or what QB's we have on the roster we CANNOT pass on the number of VERY talented college QB's that will be available in the 2013 NFL Draft. I think the Vikings will have the 4th pick or so, and I see the 2 Florida teams (Bucs & Jags) having the first 2 picks, Bucs will take Clowney, Jags will trade the pick. The Vikings with have either the UCLA Qb or Oregon QB to take, Bridgewater will not be there IMO.Will the Florida State QB hang around for another year? I dont want Manziel.

I think a lot of you towards the bottom of the page are replying to the subject line and not the actual post. If you missed the game, what you missed was a new strategy from the coaches for Ponder and it seemed to work. This wasn't about having an "average" game, or settling for jacksheet, or anything else these other posters are saying. I didn't miss the whole game, I took a nap and woke up early in the 3rd, which is rare for me to miss any of the noon games. The 2nd half seemed like it flew by, maybe it was just me. I honestly don't want to see it, because the ceiling isn't very high. This is the sort of play the Browns trot out, I don't want to be them. He will have flashes, as anyone will, don't be fooled by it, there are severe limits here.

The Bucs almost won at Seattle, played real well. The Dolphins have this incident going on with the locker-room but I don't think it should take them off their game. Tampa Bay probably has an "easier" stretch towards seasons end as well and their QB Lennon has done well enough.

Jax at Tennessee this weekend, if Jacksonville has any chance at a win, I'd look at games like this one.

Ponder has ran for a few TD's lately, yeah. And it's why I always felt he was a better option over Cassel because of that element. However, he still doesn't progress in his reads and doesn't find the open receivers. One read and go or panic. He's not a starter in the NFL at this point. Period.

Actually, when one sees a number of teams struggle to put a competent QB on the field, I am not sure one can say this.

Passer Rating, bettering Eli Manning at the moment, of course, this year is a blip on Eli's career in total.

Yup, he should have gotten rid of at 2 seconds. From the time the ball was snapped to the fumble was about 3 seconds maybe 3.5. But, yeah, it's all his fault because the play called takes 4 seconds to develop and he had 3 seconds before the D line man was swatting at his arm. But hell, now I will be called a Ponder apologist. And pocket presence, how many QB can sense a D lineman coming at them from behind?

You're such an apologist. It was exactly 3.85 seconds from the time of the snap to when he was stripped. That's nearly twice as long as the snap to release league average. I broke down a game earlier vs Cleveland where Ponders average pass was around 2.6 seconds and Hoyer was around 2.4 seconds. It's not rocket surgery, if you're backed up at your own EZ ... YOU GET RID OF THE BALL! I blame Muskrat more for not handing the ball to AD down there. It's incompetent to have a known putz like Ponder throwing from his own EZ and after PA no less. Inexcusable.
