Sounds like Freeman is trying to get TB to release him. They're looking to trade, but not finding much

to be fair, Jason LaConfora's wife just was ran over by a hit-n-run driver the other week. Cut him some slack. She survived but obviously is hospitalized

What kind of person runs someone over and leaves them to die in the street like roadkill? Bastard.NextQuestion wrote:to be fair, Jason LaConfora's wife just was ran over by a hit-n-run driver the other week. Cut him some slack. She survived but obviously is hospitalized

Again it's mostly about his contract that itself is mostly guaranteed. I forget what the article said but I think only the Jaguars have enough direct cap space to just absorb his current contract and as far as they go, I think they're more interested in just tanking the year and looking for a solution in the draft. If he gets released someone will pick him up for sure for the league minimum, though I'm not sure why the bucs would do it.Purplemania wrote: There is just too much red flag with Freeman that even if he was released, I'm not sure I'd want the Vikes to pick him up, even if for cheap. Freeman isn't a trouble maker of the law or anything, but he seems…very lazy, very unmotivated, very unfootball smart like Ponder, and lacks the "it" factor. Too much red flag. I mean, no team is willing to trade for him? Really? Not even a puny 7th rounder? Something's got to be seriously wrong.

About the Jaguars who traded up 6 spots to draft Gabbert #10. "On April 28, 2011 Gabbert was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the first round of the 2011 NFL draft with the 10th overall pick. Jacksonville traded up six spots with the Washington Redskins to select Gabbert.[7] On July 28, 2011, Gabbert officially signed his contract to play for the team. The deal was worth $12 million over 4 years.[8]
Gabbert played in his first NFL regular season game on September 18, 2011 against the New York Jets. He was then named starter against the Carolina Panthers the following week.
Gabbert struggled in his rookie season. He was sacked 40 times, third most of any quarterback in the league. He fumbled 14 times, most in the league by a quarterback.[9] His 50.8% completion percentage was second-worst in the league for passers with more than 200 attempts (ahead of only Tim Tebow's 46.5%). His 5.4 yards per attempt was last in the league among qualifying passers, as was his 65.4 passer rating.[10] Football Outsiders calculated that Gabbert's 2011 season was "with the fifth worst season we've ever measured" in aggregate value.[11]"
I bring this up after you mentioned the Jaguars in this post. Talk about dissapointing. I wonder if the Jag fans have a thousand posts talking about what a waste that pick was and ridiculing every aspect of him. I remember a whole lot of fans wishing a praying that the Vikes would have drafted him

Gabbert makes Ponder look great. Gabbert is that bad.
Of course... Gabbert almost daggered us last year with a perfect strike to Cecil Shorts that confused the hell out of Chris Cook

It just proves that even picking a franchize QB in the 1st round is a crap shoot at best.NextQuestion wrote:Gabbert makes Ponder look great. Gabbert is that bad.

Re: Should we trade for Freeman?
Gabbert is the worst QB I've ever seen and I'm not new to this.
My guess is TB will have to eat the contract and just do what they gotta do to move on and that's release him. I still don't know if it's worth it for Minnesota, but that all depends the things that we don't know about his character/drug addiction or if there is anything like that.

Reports are that he's been released. Be interesting to see who picks him up
Re: Should we trade for Freeman?
Oh no! MBT might soon be out of work...
REALLY, REALLY, REALLY hoping that the Vikings don't sign this guy.

Re: Should we trade for Freeman?
Don't think the Vikings should either. A team with a real steady, veteran QB might be fine doing it though. See if they can reform him.

Curious to see who picks this guy up. Trading wasn't an option for anyone, but I bet he'll be picked up by someone now that he's been released. I'll be shocked if he isn't.

Speculation is running rampant on the Internets. From GB to Cincy to Jacksonville to Oakland to Tennessee.MelanieMFunk wrote:Curious to see who picks this guy up. Trading wasn't an option for anyone, but I bet he'll be picked up by someone now that he's been released. I'll be shocked if he isn't.

Re: Should we trade for Freeman?
I'd take him as well. Either as a stop gap, or a backup. Draft a guy no matter what we do. We could cut Ponder and MBT tomorrow and be a better team for it...80 PurplePride 84 wrote: I'd take him over any of our 3 current QBs in the present but as for the future I want one of the QB out of the upcoming draft class.
