hey even if Cassel or MBT can't beat Ponder out he should still had to compete for his spot
this off season. I see nothing he had done to warrant just granting him the most important
part spot on this team

But yet they parrot this, Ponders our guy balony. But if the defense cheats their safeties up, he can't audible to a pass. Just have to run the ball and get stuffed. That is where I question what their real feelings about him are.

I say take the stupid leash off. Let the Guy sink or swim on his own. That may be dumb thinking since the coaches jobs are also on the line here. If Ponder sinks they may too. So I get their hesitation. However That is short term thinking by this organization. In my opinion Ponder has to prove himself and he can't do that on a short leash. Let the dude play, call audibles and throw long passes. Open up the ENTIRE playbook and have at it. It's time for this staff to hitch their wagon to this horse and ride it out. At the end of the year they can make the pitch to keep their jobs. If Ponder fails they can say we did everything in our power to help him succeed and now it's time to move on. If he succeeds they can say they did everything in their power to help him succeed and they can move to repairing the linebacker position.

All keeping Ponder on a short leash does is prevent us from seeing if the dog can hunt or not.

I totally agree. Let him play and if after this year or even this year if there is no definite improvement then move on

Unless we have a QB, like Farve, that can turn to the sideline and tell the coaches to shut up, it doesn't matter who we draft, pick up off waivers, or trade for, it will always be the same vanilla, don't break offense.
