Me too. I don't think he was a very good offensive line coach, but I'm glad they were able to come to an agreement. It feels like a good compromise to me.
It's time to take back what was rightfully ours in '98....and '09!!

Don't hear this much in Canada. Is it really that big of a problem in the states to get people vaccinated?

Depends. If the goal is 100 percent vaccinated, yes, it's a big problem. In a country as divided as ours, you can't get 100 percent of people on board with anything.

We're politically divided. Pretty close to 100% of epidemiologists and doctors agree that everyone besides the immunocompromised should get vaccinated (and already be vaccinated at this point).

Not true in my experience. The doctors I know, including epidemiologists, don't seem to agree.

Canada leads the world in vaccinated percentages by a significant amount. Most 1st world countries have similar rates to the US though at around 50% fully vaccinated.

It's cool that you hang out with a bunch of epidemiologists. Tell them to publicize their findings!

Technically, no. The US is awash in COVID vaccines. They are free and easy to get, although there is an age limit right now (I think younger than 16 can't get them, or maybe can't get them without parental consent). For the most part, any adult can get vaccinated on demand.

Practically, however, there are a lot of people in the US who don't want to get vaccinated for a variety of reasons, ranging from a belief that COVID isn't that big of a deal (or even not real), to beliefs that the vaccine is more dangerous than the disease caused by the virus, to distrust in the government, etc. It's a big country filled with people with lots of different viewpoints, so as long as vaccination is optional and those who choose not to get vaccinated pay no personal social, monetary or legal costs for their decision, the US will remain significantly below the level required to gain herd immunity.

Of course, there are many ways to change the calculus of the unvaccinated. The question is whether those in a position to implement those changes have the willpower to do so. I suspect as the social and monetary costs to the overall society mount and as more and more people are impacted by the consequences of their decisions or the decisions of those they care about, we'll see more decisive response from those in power and more overall support for that response.

In the case of Mr. Dennison, it appears the Vikings had that willpower, but chose to find a solution that was a win-win for both. Dennison doesn't have to get vaccinated, and the Vikings don't have to fire him. He can't do what he was doing, but he's still a member of the organization and can still contribute.

I'm fully pro vaccine and vaccinated myself. However, not all doctors agree with the vaccine. I have a distinguished family member that is one of a handful of doctors in the country that holds both a PHD in organic chemistry and a an MD. He and his family members are not vaccinated because.... he did not like how the trials went. He and his wife (also a doctor) have the resources to self quarentine and have chosen to do so for the next year or two. After that a decision will be made as to whether they get the vaccine. His situation is very unusual. I plead for the public to get the vaccine. In my hospital, the only people dying (except 2 of the 1500 or so) are those that have not been vaccinated. People are worrying about what MIGHT happen in 25 years when they are dropping dead NOW.

Fascinating...

What is his opinion about the results of the "clinical trials" of the unvaccinated who are currently being infected by the virus?

Prevailing wisdom among folks I know in medical field is 'minimal risk for those without co-morbitities'.

I might be misunderstanding what you wrote, but are you saying that prevailing wisdom in the medical field is that getting sick with COVID poses minimal risk for those without co-morbidities?
