Teddy and Adrian Peterson can NOT coexsist in the same BF
Teddy Bridgewater has russell wilson like traits( i mean that was his comp coming out louisville), he is laid back, not demanding, seen as harmless. He wont stand up to an intimidating personality like A.D.
i mean going back to OU the only qbs that have had success with Adrian Peterson was a senior in Jason White( while peterson was a frosh), and Brett Favre who im sure AD obviously respected... So why have so many qbs sucked with peterson in their backfield... i dunno
The question also becomes why was Teddy one of the highest graded qbs according to advanced stats without Peterson his rookie year, and now with Peterson he seems to have lost his way. Teddy had more 300 yard games than Derek Carr last year believe it or not, now he barely gets 200.
The answer is quite simple, Russell Wilson was known as a game-manager with Lynch in the backfield, now that Lynch is gone and the offense is tailed to Wilson, people and analysts are saying we should include him in MVP talks... The same applies with Peterson, and for those saying we would be a playoff team with Peterson, Bridgewater won 7 games last year, why would he improve on his win total, especially with how he looked in the preseason
Teddy Bridgewater as you saw earlier in this years preseason when he was completing close to 80% of his passes, must have the offense tailored to him, for him to be successful. TBH you dont really need a superstar rb with how the league is going these days, its why now with Wilson's recent play, Marshawn Lynch has become expendable and Thomas Rawls and UNDRAFTED rookie is in his spot and not missing a beat
Teddy Bridgewater can not function as a qb with Adrian Peterson... this preseason and his rookie season is proof of it, no peterson, and Teddy was completing close to 80% of his passes, he even hit mike wallace on a deep throw. Why was Teddy so good with a washed up Greg Jennings, and Matt Asista but cant seem to hit Mike Wallace on deep outs, its because as a qb, he is not the dominant voice in the backfield... its peterson( and his quest for 2,000) which is really meaningless in todays NFL
The Vikings are gonna have a decision to make, and i think Zimmer has already made it, he is sticking with Teddy for the long haul. Peterson will be gone after this season, draft a rb, and watch teddy throw for 300 yards like his rookie year.. In the Packers game earlier this year, Teddy was doing great when Peterson was NOT in the game and Mckinnon was in. Peterson also struggles in pass pro

Wilson is playing this good because he has grown as a player and a play maker, not because Lynch is out, that may have accelerated the process but thats about it.

why do qbs seem to suck with peterson in the backfield
you dont need an all-pro back in todays modern nfl
if you bring in jared goff, the same stuff is gonna happen

Marshawn Lynch was and is a cancer in Seattle
Steve Smith Sr. was a cancer to Cam in Carolina
and Peterson calling out coaches demanding more carries is a cancer in Minny
notice how Wilson and Cam have elevated their games without the cancers
we have already seen Bridgewater without peterson all of last year, and in the preseason this year
todd gurley and doug martin are among the league leaders in rushing, and yet their teams suck
you can find a runningback in the draft that will give you 900 yards rushing because of teddy's mobility

Ok, once again, those players have improved on account of making strides in their on field play, not because of the players they lost.TeddyBaller wrote:Marshawn Lynch was and is a cancer in Seattle

If Lynch was still healthy having his family threaten darell bevell, wilson would not be putting up these numbers, and the seahawks would still be struggling instead of blowing teams out... Cant call wilson a game-manager anymore can you?

If Lynch was still healthy, Wilson might not be putting up the numbers he has been putting up, but the Seahawks would be even more balanced, efficient, and dangerous then they are now. They wouldn't rely on Wilson as much as they do now, but if they needed to they just as easily could.TeddyBaller wrote:

That's because no quarterbacks have sucked because of Adrian Peterson. They've sucked because they're not very good.TeddyBaller wrote:Teddy Bridgewater has russell wilson like traits( i mean that was his comp coming out louisville), he is laid back, not demanding, seen as harmless. What, you think T-Jack would have been a stud if only AD wasn't around? Or Christian Ponder is actually another Tom Brady but AD ruined his career?
Peterson is the best RB in the league and the best weapon on the Vikings offense. The QB that played the best with Peterson was Brett Favre and he's far superior to any of the QBs the Vikings have had since Peterson arrived.

adrian peterson is a cancer and a dominant personality, watch if teddy is traded he will flourish like wilson without the cancers in the backfield, rb's are useless in todays nfl... you can draft one in the 7th round and they can be good

While I will admit id like to see more Mckinnon.....I don't think Teddy's struggles are because of Peterson. That's just ridiculous. You propose making our team worse, and then hoping that Teddy steps his game up.

I would like to A.P. later in the game to
Close the door on teams. Use Asiata when
needed. I want the Vikings use slant routes
to Wright and Adam T much more.
I am hoping Wallace is gone and we grab
Jeffrey as a free agent. I don't think the
Bears will tag him, but time will tell.

Nope, RBs aren't useless, you can manage without one, but it certainly doesn't hurt. Do you think Leveon Bell is holding the Steelers back?TeddyBaller wrote:

Hell my own team has a HOF QB and the 22nd ranked passing game, but our top 10 running game has put us in the top 12 of scoring offenses, I seriously shutter to think what they would be ranked with an inferior RB core.

How do the Minnesota Vikings fix the play calling dilemma regarding young quarterback Teddy Bridgewater and veteran running back Adrian Peterson?
Have you ever been watching a Vikings game and noticed that Teddy Bridgewater seems to be more comfortable throwing the football from shotgun, while Adrian Peterson runs better when the quarterback is under center? Well you aren’t the only one. So with that in mind, I want to dive deep into the stats to find out if that is actually true, or just a figment of our imagination.
The first thing we need to take a look at is how well Teddy Bridgewater performs in each situation.
SNAP TYPE: CMP /ATT /INC /CMP % /YDS /TD /INT /1ST /RATE /Y/A /AY/A
SHOTGUN: /394 /579 /185 /68.05% /4248 /19 /9 /205 /93.8 /7.3 /7.29
U/C 119/ 205/ 91 /55.61% /1379 /5 /11 /62 /62.2 /6.7 /4.80
As you can see from the table, Teddy Bridgewater has thrown nearly 74 percent of his passes from the shotgun, and
there is good reason for this. Bridgewater has a QB Rating of 93.8 when in the shotgun, compared to just 62.2 when throwing from under center. (For comparison sake, I looked up the same numbers for Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady and Peyton Manning, and Teddy was the only one of the four that has a worse QB Rating when throwing from under center.)
Teddy Bridgewater is a smart quarterback who can easily scan the field and make the correct read when given time. Unfortunately for Teddy, he plays for the Vikings, who have one of the worst offensive lines in the league. When he is in the shotgun, Bridgewater is able to start scanning the field earlier in the play, which generally correlates to him getting the ball out quicker, thus negating the negative impact the offensive line has.
Adrian Peterson has carried the ball 2,322 times throughout his NFL career, and over 80 percent of those carries have been when the quarterback was under center. As you can see, Peterson runs more effectively when he has the chance to get a full head of steam going before hitting the line of scrimmage (over a full yards per carry difference).
Adrian Peterson is also more successful getting first downs when running from under center. When in shotgun, 15 percent of Adrian’s carries result in a first down, while 24 percent of his carries go for first downs when the quarterback is under center. However, some of that may be due to down and distance, as the Vikings usually have a longer distance to go for the first when they are in shotgun formation. (I don’t have any fancy stats to back that up, I’m just assuming.)
So if Teddy Bridgewater is a better quarterback when in the shotgun formation, and Adrian Peterson is a better running back when taking handoffs from a quarterback under center, what can the Vikings possibly do?
Basically, the Vikings have a few options. Norv Tuner and Mike Zimmer can talk to Adrian, and attempt to force him into becoming a running back who excels out of the shotgun, which should make Teddy a better quarterback, but would limit Adrian’s explosiveness. Or maybe the coaching staff can approach Teddy and work with him on taking the ball from under center. Between these two options, the easiest would be working with Teddy, as Adrian has been in this league a long time, and as the saying goes: “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks.”
However, the most beneficial solution might not have anything to do with either Teddy Bridgewater or Adrian Peterson. Maybe the best solution would be to revamp the offensive line this offseason. Having a better offensive line would make everyone’s job a lot easier; Teddy would have the time needed to complete a five or seven step drop, scan the field and deliver a strike to his intended receiver, while Adrian would have better holes to run through.
Teddy Bridgewater has shown he has what it takes to be a successful quarterback in this league, while Adrian Peterson has shown he is one of the best running backs to ever put on a jersey. Unfortunately, the Minnesota Vikings will not be able to reach the peak of their offensive ability until they are able to figure out a way to get the most production from the two most important pieces on offense.
