This Week's Enemy Fan Forums: The Detroit Lions

Post by frosted »

I don't know what to say, really, regarding last week - I have rehashed the game in my mind a lot the past few days, and it has been discussed heavily here. That one hurt.

Stat Box: Offense

Code: Select all

335.2 Total Yards/Game (23rd in NFL)
205.2 Passing Yards/Game (27th in NFL)
130 Rushing Yards/Game (10th in NFL)
20.2 Points/Game (26th in NFL)
Stat Box: Defense

Code: Select all

347.4 Total Yards/Game (15th in NFL)
225.6 Passing Yards/Game (11th in NFL)
121.8 Rushing Yards/Game (19th in NFL)
25.2 Points/Game (20th in NFL)

Excited for this week! We'll get to see our guy Ted again, hopefully he shines. Detroit has a very solid defense, ranking #1 in the NFL right now. It will be very challenging to run the ball on them. I'm interested to see how the offensive line holds up. They have been pretty suspect in each of our three losses. There is a possibility of Detroit's best player being sidelined - finally lady luck smiles on the Vikes. It would make their offense much less difficult to defend. I need to see a big game from our defensive line. They have been far from good this year, and I think it is affecting our run defense greatly. That is an extremely weak spot for this team right now. Divisional game, at home - I'd call it a must win. If we do, we're back to .500, if not, we fall to 2-4, which, given the teams we've played isn't awful, but certainly I expect them to come to play each and every week. I have a better feeling going into this week than I did before Thursday night's game. The Lions are coming off a very deflating loss to Buffalo, now is the time for the Vikings to make their move, and start a winning streak. I think we win this game at home.

What they're saying:
Lions at Vikes

Any notice this was on the schedule ?
We've been too busy screaming at each other over another Same Ol' Lions loss last Sunday.

This one will be no different. The Lions will be humiliated, the offense will be stagnant, the secondary exposed, and the Optimigos will churn out in force to assure us things are "different" this year after the Lions fall to .500.
Lions opened -3. Bet down to -1.5

Half a FG. Nice.

Will it be Lion on the road > Vikings overall suck ?

I would hope they could pull this off
Let me know if the vaunted offense with all their weapons decides to score more than one TD this time.

It'd be nice.
Same Ole Lions, no offense, #1 defense in the League, tough and disciplined, First place, but the offense puts us in jeopardy of losing to the Vikes and Bills. You know, like the historical Lions.

Make no mistake, this is going to be a tough game. It's outdoors, the Vikes got humiliated and are well rested after the Packer game, and are going to be playing with extra motivation. Our offense is not in form yet, so it will be a tough road contest.

Still like the Lions, the Vikings will need a couple big plays from Patterson and (checks Minnesotas roster) and Matt. ####. Asiata. to win. They also need a defensive or S/T TD. I like Patterson to make a big play, but Asiata is not going to run on us. McKinnon neither. It will have to be an ugly game with a fair amount of ####, like Minnesota teams regardless of sport seem to thrive on, for them to win.

Lions 18 (6-6 on FG's)
Vikings 17
We were too busy worrying about Kicker Watch 2k14 Part Deux that we didn't care about this game. Plus it's the Queens. #### them.

That being said, if Megatron doesn't play (and even if he does and is as limited as the last two weeks) and Bridgewater does play I'm picking the Queens to win.
its vital imo that we win on sunday at bank stadium the vikings will be tough at there place but im pretty sure we can come away with a win
If they play anywhere near what they did against the Bills they are toast

Go Vikes!

I updated the OP with some Lion fan comments. I will add more Friday. Also, the 506 has their TV maps out for this week:

We get Mike Goldberg and Brendon Ayanbadejo this week.

As an aside, I'm a bit bummed that the Twin Cities will be seeing Chicago v. Atlanta in the FOX late game slot, had hoped to see Dallas @ Seattle. Oh well.

I'm bummed that we get the Green Bay/Miami game here in Chicago, which seems like a programming blunder to me. I realize there are a lot of Packers fans in this area but to show an inter-conference matchup over a game between two NFC North teams, one of which is in first place? As Bill and Ted would say: bogus!

That is a bummer for you. Does that sort of thing pop up quite a bit in your estimation?

Yes, the networks here seem to operate under the assumption that if a Bears game isn't on, the Packers are the next best thing for ratings. They show a fair amount of Vikes games though and with Vikes vs. Lions this week, I had hoped we'd get that game.

Yeah, kinda sad. If the Minnesota Vikings didn't exist, I would definitely be a Lions fan (grew up in Wisconsin not wanting to root for the Pack or Bears).

Wow. Looks like Iowa City is getting screwed over too. We are going to get the Packers and Miami. It really, really pisses me off how Fox (there is another name I like to call the station, but it is beside the point) gets NFC vs. AFC games. IMO CBS should all get the NFC vs. AFC games. This is a tad bit off topic, but I loathe Fox. Absolutely loathe it. I only tolerate it because growing up back in SD, Minnesota was always on. Ever since I have been away from the state, I can see why I hate Fox. The broadcasting regulations makes no sense to me. Not only that, but FOX has the worst HD and the worst broadcasters. I honestly cannot stand any broadcasting team other than Sam Rosen and Chris Myers. I don't see why ABC cannot have a bid on the TV deals. They definitely have the money to do so. I would absolutely love it if the NFC could package their games to a whole new TV station.

Anyway, I am glad I have Direct TV for my laptop. I can just stream it to the TV. The only problem is the lag, which can kill some excitement with fantasy alerts, scoring alerts, and texts from friends back home watching on TV. This should be a fun game to watch. I am thinking we can win this one, but I am not going to underestimated Detroit, even without Calvin and Reggie.

Oh, and BTW, I was laughing pretty hard at this comment. I thought it was funny. Both of the fan bases honestly feel the same way at times. It is funny.

I'm curious: why do you feel that way? Is it just because you loathe Fox?

I'm actually the opposite (in the FOX v. CBS debate), maybe it's just because I have grown up watching Vikes games on FOX since I was a boy, but there's something nostalgic about it for me, when I hear the 'Fox Sunday NFL Theme' music. Makes me think of Thanksgiving, football, and family.

I'm a little farther west than you Moth, but that's why I keep getting Sunday Ticket (Hate the $$$ though). For the Vikings to be broadcast, it's got to not conflict with a Bears or a Packers game.

http://espn.go.com/blog/minnesota-vikin ... th-to-play
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Minnesota Vikings safety Harrison Smith was doing rehab work with athletic trainer Eric Sugarman during the open portion of the team's practice on Wednesday, but coach Mike Zimmer said he expects Smith will return from a sprained left ankle in time to play against the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

Smith had an MRI that showed no significant damage to his ankle after he played every snap in the Vikings' loss to the Green Bay Packers and got his ankle re-taped several times during the game. He did not practice on Tuesday, but "he did a lot" in the Vikings' Wednesday morning walk-through, Zimmer said.

"I expect he's probably going to play," Zimmer said.

I like FOX, for the simple reason, I get to watch Vikings games. And we are 'bad' enough not to have Aikman and Buck for announcers.
