Praise the defense

Post by purplehaze »

Thought I would give a little praise to the defense in being 3rd in takeaways with 12. (7 ints and 5 fumbles). Now, what would our record (or defensive stats) be like if Plunder was not responsible for 70% of our giveaways which is 5 ints and 5 fumbles?????. That is the $64,000 question.

Really, praise the defense, bash the Ponder. That's a new one, not the latter but the former. The team D is better than normal on takeaways, but beyond awful on yards allowed and points allowed. This team is 1-3 for reasons too many to count, Ponder is mere one of them and not the main one.

Like I said. $64,000 question is with a real QB bottom line your defensive yardage stats and points allowed will be improved by having less giveaways by a competent QB. And yes, It cannot be stressed enough that Plunder should not be wearing Randal Cunningham's Jersey. I hope we have 100 more threads about Plunder until he is gone.

I agree that the defense deserves a little love for forcing an average of 3 turnovers per game. That's something to be proud of, regardless of anything else.

This has to be a joke. You cannot win giving up 30 a game, even if you do get a few turnovers.

Very true, and I think that's the "light at the end of the tunnel." It's something to build on for sure.

Lets see if the defensive numbers improve with King of the Cassle behind center for a few games. Might get better, might not.

Yep. Harrison Smith (3), Antione Winfield (3), Josh Robinson (2), Everson Griffen (1), Chad Greenway (1). I'm just frustrated that of our seven INTs this season, only two have come from a DB (Smith).

Praise the defense for what? 430 yards a game on defense? 300+ yards averaged to 4 quarterbacks?
Not being able to cover a tight end for all the tea in China? Losing the same way 2 games in a row?
104 yards rushing per game against us? 296 snaps from scrimmage in 4 games?

Cover-2 is outdated. Leslie needs to realize that....look at how AWFUL Dallas' defense has been this year after switching to cover-2. Morris Clairborne (high draft pick) is having an extremely tough time switching to it

Man, I get it. The defense has been disappointing, but is it really that hard to see any positives out of their overall performance? I don't think so, especially when it's right there in front of you--12 turnovers in 4 games. That's nice, as I said, regardless of anything else.

Give credit where credit is due, and they deserve credit in the turnover department.

Maybe there should be a forum devoted only to Ponder so all the threads stop devolving to Ponder bashing. He's not worth our time, to bash in any thread on any topic.
