Highest scoring offenses in NFL History

Post by PurpleMustReign »

FOX ran a stat that said that the 2011 Packers scored more points than the 1998 Vikings? Is that true?
All this time I thought the Vikings were #2 all time, but I guess it recently changed :(
The Devil whispered in the Viking's ear, "There's a storm coming." The Viking replied, "I am the storm." ‪#‎SKOL2018

2007 Patriots (with Moss)
1998 Vikings (with Moss)
And an older team from like the 40's is in between them..
The rams with Warner and Faulk are up around there as well I think

The Vikings are 4th now, New England passed them again last year. They'll be 5th after this year because the Broncos are going to shatter the scoring record.

589 - 2007 New England Patriots
560 - 2011 Green Bay Packers
557 - 2012 New England Patriots
556 - 1998 Minnesota Vikings
547 - 2011 New Orleans Saints
541 - 1983 Washington Redskins
540 - 2000 St. Louis Rams
526 - 1999 St. Louis Rams
522 - 2004 Indianapolis Colts
518 - 2010 New England Patriots

And highest scoring teams by points per game.

38.83 - 1950 Los Angeles Rams (12 games)
36.81 - 1794New England Patriots (16 games)
36.64 - 1961 Houston Oilers (14 games)
36.00 - 1941 Chicago Bears (11 games)
35.00 - 2011 Green Bay Packers (16 games)
34.81 - 2012 New England Patriots (16 games)
34.75 - 1998 Minnesota Vikings (16 games)
34.19 - 2011 New Orleans Saints (16 games)
34.18 - 1942 Chicago Bears (11 games)
33.81 - 1983 Washington Redskins (16 games)

But to make everyone feel better, here are the best defenses in terms of points per game since 1960. And everyone thinks the '85 Bears, the '00 Ravens or the '02 Bucs had good defenses, pffffff.

9.21 - 1977 Atlanta Falcons (14 games)
9.50 - 1969 Minnesota Vikings (14 games)
9.64 - 1975 Los Angeles Rams (14 games)
9.86 - 1976 Pittsburgh Steelers (14 games)
9.93 - 1971 Minnesota Vikings (14 games)
10.00 - 1971 Baltimore Colts (14 games)
10.21 - 1970 Minnesota Vikings (14 games)
10.29 - 1963 Chicago Bears (14 games)
10.29 - 1968 Baltimore Colts (14 games)
10.31 - 2000 Baltimore Ravens (16 games)

That 1794 Patriots team was pretty good.

Lol yeah didn't you know? That team was lead by Thomas Jefferson. He won the first 10 colony championships.

Broncos are averaging 44.75 through 4 games (if they don't score anymore today xD). They're on pace for 716. After a quick check I couldn't find a team with a higher average after 4 games. The Rams were averaging 43.4 after 5 games in 2000.

Would a crude oil painting suffice? Kodak wasn't around back then xD.

I suppose. Just make sure Jefferson has a headset on while reading his Constitutional play calling sheet.

They had a young Andrew Jackson on defense too. Too bad they didn't keep sack records back then.

One thing to note. That of the 15 highest scoring teams in the NFL, only one, the 1999 Rams won the Super Bowl. The other 14 either never made it that far or lost in the Big game.
Vikings fan since Nov. 6, 1966. Annoying Packer fans since Nov. 7, 1966
