Freeman released

Post by dead_poet »

The first one falls. Good. Maybe Glennon can form some sort of passing attack and open lanes for Martin, the idiot I traded McCoy for.

Josh Freeman - QB - Buccaneers

The Bucs have benched Josh Freeman and named Mike Glennon their starter.

The Josh Freeman era in Tampa ends with a thud. Operating in the final year of his contract, Freeman steered the Bucs to an 0-3 start by ranking 33rd in completion percentage (45.7 percent), 30th in passing yards (571) and 33rd in passer rating (59.3). Throw in a 2:3 TD-to-INT ratio, and coach Greg Schiano wasn't left with much of a choice. Unless Glennon gets hurt, Freeman has likely started his last game in a Bucs uniform. The No. 17 overall pick in the 2009 draft never took the Bucs to the playoffs, finishing with a 24-35 record as a starter.

I liked Freeman coming out of school and was a player I was hoping the Vikings might go for

I think at this point he would a long shot at any point ...

He's now apparently been cut.

I wonder how much longer Schiano has.

Is that their coach? Why do you ask that?

That's the coach. He's burning bridges. The handling of the Freeman situation was atrocious and some were speculating he was the source of several leaks.

Would be a solid backup.

Better now than Ponder or MBT will ever be.

Might even be a better QB than Cassel. But put him in same general area.

I'd take him considering our situation...

Right now, either the Browns or the Bills could use Freeman much more than the Vikings could.

The Bills, especially. Did anyone see Jeff Tuel against the Browns? Worse than Ponder on Ponder's worst day. And he's the _only_ other QB on the Bills roster beside EJ Manuel. I can't imagine a team more desperate for a QB.
