Sounds like the Vikings aren't resigning him anyways so I say its time to see why we can get. Let Robison and Griffen be the ends and resign them. (I believe they are both FAs after this season) hate to see Allen go but if he isn't coming back let's get a draft pick for him why the getting is good.
No way the Vikings make the playoffs now. Might as well go young IMO.
Time to trade Allen?

Who would take him with that insane paycheck that he's receiving?
I have no doubt that he'll get his 12 or 14 sacks by season's end. He usually gets them in bunches against some practice squad wannabees forced into playing LT for teams decimated by injury.

Right now, yes, for the best deal they can get. We aernt going anywhere this year, or next. Everyone is underachieving, shake some things up.

Haha I couldn't have said it better myself! You can look at my posting history, but I'm in the major minority and never really have liked Allen. I've never seen a guy who gets a lot of sacks each year, disappear completely in so many games. I remember a few years ago he had something like 6-8 of his sacks against that terrible Packers O-Line.Eli wrote:Who would take him with that insane paycheck that he's receiving?

Look at a guy like Demarcus Ware for example. He is almost consistently getting sacks, and if for some reason he isn't, it's because he's injured and gutting it out or he's still causing havoc in the backfield and stopping the run.
Like you said, Allen always seems to get bunches of sacks in certain games against a backup linemen, or something crazy like that. I remember looking at his career stats a few years ago, and it was eye popping how many games he had zero sacks and wasn't much of an impact.
I don't know, that's just me. So ultimately, I wouldn't be against this trade at all. Get all we can for him, other teams will overrate him and give us more than we should get.

Any team a DE away from a Super Bowl would take him.Eli wrote:Who would take him with that insane paycheck that he's receiving?

Re: Time to trade Allen?
It's not all about sacks. Allen is a very smart DE. He often sniffs out screens and had a number of passes defensed in the first two games. It's all moot anyway, as mentioned his salary and being on the wrong side of 30 means his value is low from a trade perspective.
Re: Time to trade Allen?
Time to trade him was after his big year. He's old and overpaid now. No one is trading for him. Mid round picks? Great, we can grab some more special teamers to extend.
