Any word on Winfield?

Post by PurpleMustReign »

I didn't get to see the game because I was 30,000 feet in the air flying home, but would Winfield have helped us in today's game? Has there been any word on the Vikings reaching out to him?

Not unless he could play middle linebacker. He wouldn't play full time at corner unless there was an injury to one of the starters.

Xavier Rhodes made a few good plays. Chis Cook stunk. Josh Robinson saved a couple of TD returns on special teams.

Ha, the guy on the post game show (forgot his name) pretty much turned to the camera and pleaded for AW to return. If anything we miss his tackling and run stuffing ability.

Yanno, I'd really like to see him on our coaching staff teaching these guys how to TACKLE. You can NOT just hit them down.

If you were Winfield sitting at home watching today's game, would YOU want to come back? Vikings are 0-2 and in terms of the cold hard statistics, have pretty much already been eliminated from the playoffs. This team has zero chance of winning the SB.

Winfield will have better choices if he decides to play this year.

The Vikes treated him like crap. And if you don't think they need him, you are nuts.

I totally agree with this.

He is a corner who plays like a LB. I would be pretty stunned if he had any desire to play for Spielman again.

But who knows?

It was reported he felt he was underpaid for his strong 2012 season based on reductions in his base pay due to his injury-laden 2011 season. It was reported he was in the facility the day he was cut so they could sign Phil Loadholt to more money than expected after diligently working out the entire off-season in Minnesota unlike players who, completely within their rights, train in Arizona and skip OTAs. It was reported the Vikings offered twice as much guaranteed money than Seattle, who had no room on their roster for any CB, much less an aging one. He gets the guaranteed money from Seattle as off-set pay no matter who might sign him so the Vikings would have to sign him for far more than the veteran minimum to make it worth his while. He may or may not stay retired, but he's never playing for the Vikings again. That ship has sailed. It's unfortunate because the team is missing his incredible ability to tackle.
