Beat reporter Wiedererererer leaving for Chicago
I liked his stuff. First Peilssero now Wiedererererer. Not sure who will be replacing him. Andrew Krammer does alright, and I've been souring on Judd for awhile. Local guys, if you're so kind, please post here when you know who'll be replacing Dan. Thanks!

Yeah, I saw that announcement yesterday and thought about posting it. IMO, Weiderer didn't bring much to the table. Looks like Chip Scoggins will fill in for him temporarily:
I always liked Zugad and Scoggins together. I still like Judd. He's a little opinionated and takes something of a glass-half-full view of the Vikings, but that just strikes me as being honest.chipscoggins @chipscoggins 18 Aug
Heading to Vikings practice this afternoon. I'm returning to beat until paper finds replacement for @StribDW who is going home to Chicago.

Re: Beat reporter Wiedererererer leaving for Chicago
Looks like Seifert is leaving the NFCN blog as well for a national gig.
Gist of changes: Beat reporters for 32 teams. Packers, Bears, Vikings now staffed. Lions to come. I will transition to national NFL writer. Loved my 5 years w NFCN focus and especially crazed NFCN fans. Pumped about new gig. Details to come...

Don't forget former Vikes beat writers Sean Jensen and Kevin Siefert. Jensen left the PP to write for the Chicago Sun-Times (although he still occasionally freelances for the PP) and Siefert left the Strib for ESPN. Heck, we could go all the way back to former Vikes beat writer Don Banks, who currently writes for SI. Minnesota seems to be a breeding ground for sports reporters who move on to bigger markets or national publications.
Bummer.
Re: Beat reporter Wiedererererer leaving for Chicago
Sheesh! I was just writing about Siefert in a reply to your first post...dead_poet wrote:Looks like Seifert is leaving the NFCN blog as well for a national gig.
Re: Beat reporter Wiedererererer leaving for Chicago
Now, Seifert moving on is a significant change. I wonder who will get that gig.
I still can't believe Pelissero took a job with USA Today. Isn't USA Today still looked upon as something of a joke of a national newspaper? Here's the current headline on their website:

Cutting edge stuff...

It's being divided into 4 gigs. ESPN is expanding their approach and creating a "a dedicated digital home for each of the 32 NFL teams".Eli wrote:Now, Seifert moving on is a significant change. I wonder who will get that gig.

Ben Goessling of the Pioneer Press will be handling the Vikes beat for them (I don't know if that means he'll be leaving the PP or working for both the PP and ESPN).

Can't find a Twitter handle for Goessling.

Re: Beat reporter Wiedererererer leaving for Chicago
I don't quite get ESPN. Why would they have reporters working the Vikings beat on the 1500ESPN Twin Cities website and then use someone different for the national website?

Wow, so over the course of just a few months, the PP, Strib, and 1500 ESPN are all losing their Vikes beat writers. Crazy!

Vikings fan since Nov. 6, 1966. Annoying Packer fans since Nov. 7, 1966
Re: Beat reporter Wiedererererer leaving for Chicago
I thought Sean Jensen was doing a little freelance work for the Pioneer Press when I saw his byline start popping up again but apparently he left the Chicago Sun-Times a few months back (I don't read the Sun-Times so I didn't notice). I saw another article with his name on it at the PP site today so I did some quick research and his Twitter account says he's currently an "unrestricted free agent". Another look around revealed that he's covering the Vikes for the PP while they are between beat reporters.
