Patterson's KO return
If he had waited for his blockers rather than running in front of them, he would have gone all the way. It was a great return, and hopefully we see more of that this season!!

Re: Patterson's KO return
Yeah he definitely got a little excited seeing all that green turf in front of him. He had like what, 2 blockers just behind him? But he had 2 defenders streaking on either side of him and a couple giving chase. The kicker had pretty good contain and made a solid tackle. I think if he slowed down and waited for the blocks someone would have caught him from behind. If the kicker didn't get a hand on him he was probably gone.

If he'd waited for Sharrif Floyd, who was on his immediate right when he was tackled, he might have broken it.

What a first return, even if it is pre-season. He definitely has the take away speed, agreed if he waited up for blockers he might of broke it though.

We can't expect him to have the natural running-back type instincts of a Harvin; few wideouts do. But he has a ton of speed, and if he learns a thing or two about route running as a wideout and how to use his blockers as a return man, he can stand out in both domains. How can anyone not be excited about this kid.allday1991 wrote:What a first return, even if it is pre-season. completely agreed, he was our highlight from the first pre-season game.DanAS wrote: We can't expect him to have the natural running-back type instincts of a Harvin; few wideouts do. Nah. You don't wait on a kick return like that. In fact, the Kicker clipped his foot. If that doesn't happen then he's gone.Eli wrote:If he'd waited for Sharrif Floyd, who was on his immediate right when he was tackled, he might have broken it.

Yep. I watched it several times. There is NO way he should have waited for Floyd. The rest of the pack would have caught him. He had to juke the kicker better. He's going to be electric on KOs.

Actually, the kicker didn't touch him from what I saw(and according to what Priefer said in a presser).PacificNorseWest wrote: Nah. You don't wait on a kick return like that. In fact, the Kicker clipped his foot. If that doesn't happen then he's gone.
Patterson just couldn't stay on his feet as he dodged the kicker, which is a shame but I doubt many could've stayed on their feet after that move.

Not taking anything away from Patterson, but that was an impressive display of blocking. Pause at about the :25 second mark. Everybody has their man beat.

It was great to watch, even if it's always a bit edgy (gunning that hard can get ya hurt!). The adrenaline rush he had and needed to burn off after the run was huge!!
