nice getting cheapy vikings cards
I have not been into collecting since I was young, but I have been getting some dope cards lately. For pretty cheap, I've been scoring on some copies I figure are good to have: I mean they make a million different cards, it is nuts. I got me a stack of Peterson's which must be going up: what 2000 yards, and whats next if he goes totally daffy duck next season. I got my copies on their way of the '86 topps team set w/Anthony Carter rookie card, word. I'm also getting my '93 upper deck, '99 Leaf, and 2012 Absolute Football (which has cards for each on the starting roster) team sets....FAT.

You could always make your own. It's more time intensive but it's cheaper.

that 83 topps a.p. looks good, then you consider he was not even born until 85 
all the flashy glossy metal-leaf cards with the shiny reflectors on the cards out now look tight, i was going to trick my brother into thinking I spent a thousand dollars on some rare cards. I guess the market is flooded as it is, i spent 20 bucks and got probably 30 petersons, some rookies and second year. not bad to get a humble lot on their fame...

It's part of the reason I, well, everyone sane, got out in 91.
The basic and repeated pattern was this: Card comes out of a rookie or mistake. Everybody chases it because they want to buy it before the price goes up. Price jumps up. Card continues to be printed. At some point everyone who wanted one of the rookie (who is now settling into a less than HOF career) or error cards has one. Price begins to drop as card shops begin to "give discounts". Market floods as people try to get value for their Pro Set William Perry cards.
It was a good lesson in supply and demand economics, even moreso when there were thirty different card companies making Emmitt Smith "chase cards"
I did buy up a bunch of older cards and have most of the Viking players from 1971 or so on in addition to a bunch of 70's era Cowboys, Steelers, Dolphins and Raiders.
