New Twitter Trend: #StartWebbBenchPonder
I have a concussion so I can't type much but if you have a twitter please help me trend #StartWebbBenchPonder
With Ponder in the game, there's absolutely no way we'll go 4-0 or 3-1 against the remaining schedule so it'd be best if we threw something new at defenses in Joe Webb.

So you're saying Joe Webb is the answer to our problems. Gonna lead us to a 10-6 record and the promised land.
How long have you had this concussion?

Go ahead. I dare you.
Underestimate this man.

I do... he'll look like a beast for a game, maybe two. Then teams will have film on him and shut him down. We've been down this road before.Purple Jesus wrote: Haha that's funny. But who really knows what Webb might do ha.

Just curious. Which games has he been shut down again? I have watched all his games he has played and I cannot recall. Refresh my memory.BGM wrote: I do... he'll look like a beast for a game, maybe two. Then teams will have film on him and shut him down. We've been down this road before.

Dec 20, 2010 vs Chicago 15-26, 129 yds, 2 INTs, 38 yds rush, 1 rush TD. Loss 14-40purplehaze wrote:

Jan 2, 2011 vs. Detroit 20-32, 145 yds, 1 INT, 35 yds rush, zero TDs. Loss 13-20
Dec 11, 2011 vs. Detroit 12-23, 84 yds, 1 TD, 109 yds rush, 1 rush TD. Loss 28-34
Jan 1, 2012 vs. Chicago 17-32, 200 yds, 2 INT, 2 yds rush. Loss 13-17
Aside from his 109 yds rushing against Detroit, what exactly inspires optimism in Webb's ability to QB? His avg yards per attempt is terrible. Just terrible.
Listen, I would be happy as anyone if he were the answer, but I just don't see it. Not at all.

One could easily argue that this is also the case with Ponder this season. Everybody has figured out his weaknesses.BGM wrote: I do... he'll look like a beast for a game, maybe two. Then teams will have film on him and shut him down. We've been down this road before.

I'm beginning to think that is correct, but how does that justify putting Webb in? As bad as it is suffering with Ponder, if he continues to "play" this way we'll finish 6-10 and no one will argue: "He might develop but we never gave him a chance."soflavike wrote: One could easily argue that this is also the case with Ponder this season. Well, I can argue he looked pretty good in the two road wins against the Redskins and Eagles. Bottom line, neither one of us know for sure what he can or cannot do for this team based on what little play he has had. He has started 2 games for us in his 3 year career. Not much of a track record to be definitive. And I would think he has learned a little bit in the last couple years. At least you cannot say he has REGRESSED because we have not seen him play.

Yes. The guy has started 2 games vs. check downs 23. Not saying he is the long term answer but I do not get how you can totally judge a guy based on 2 starts.PurpleMustReign wrote: Are you asking a serious question?

So now we are comparing someone to Webb who never made it as a backup. Ok.80 PurplePride 84 wrote:Booty had zero starts. Should we bring him back? He wasn't fairly judged either.

Booty was taken in the 5th. Webb in the 6th. What makes you think Webb's "made it" as a backup?purplehaze wrote: So now we are comparing someone to Webb who never made it as a backup. Ok.

Maybe because he IS the back up.dead_poet wrote: Booty was taken in the 5th. Webb in the 6th. What makes you think Webb's "made it" as a backup?

Re: New Twitter Trend: #StartWebbBenchPonder
I think his point was Booty had 0 starts (two less starts than Webb) if we are going to assert that we are required to have more starts for everyone before we can determine if any QB is not up to the task.purplehaze wrote: So now we are comparing someone to Webb who never made it as a backup. Ok.
