Star Trek
Saw the new movie this afternoon. And, I liked it.
The new Enterprise ('no bloody A, B, C or D') is kick-####! Even if you don't like the Treks which came before, I would recommend this one. Great special effects and a lot of humor.
I won't spoil it for anyone who is going to see it.

Thanks for the heads up Dawn. Been waiting for it to come out. Was going today with my son, but got sidetracked. We will be going to see it in the next week.

This ain't your daddy's Star Trek. In more ways than one.

Re: Star Trek

I know its probably totally different than the James Kirk, Nemoy days of Trek.
I just can't get past the old star trek that was terrible and people loved it.

Re: Star Trek
GREAT MOVIE! I enjoyed every second of it. If you are a die-hard Trekker, I can see why this film is something you might really hate as the "canon" is turned on its head. But, as a movie, it is astounding. Great effects, loads of action, a solid story, humorous character interaction, and a cameo by Leonard Nimoy's Spock. In fact, my one quibble is I wish there was a little more character exploration, but with this crew slated for two more movies, my hope is we get that.
Wow! I haven't had this much fun at a movie since I saw Star Wars as a kid. People clapped in the theater after it was over. For subdued small town Minnesota, that's an achievement!

Re: Star Trek
But, the die-hard Trekkers can take heart in the fact that this movie is an alternate timeline. It changes nothing, so far as the canon timeline goes. The only thing that takes place in that universe is the bit about Romulas.BGM wrote:GREAT MOVIE! I enjoyed every second of it. Re: Star Trek
I watched the movie last night. I've only seen like 2 episodes of Star Trek total so I'm definitely not what you'd called a die hard fan. However I loved the movie. I thought it was the best action/sci-fi movie I've seen in a very long time, quite possibly ever.
Re: Star Trek
Best Movie ever. I never have seen any star trek before this but now I am in love with it. The only movie that can beat it this summer is maybe Terminator Salvation but I highly doubt it.

Re: Star Trek
Finally got to see it this evening. Fantastic. Loved every minute of it. Especially the Scotty and Bones characters. Thought they did a great job. Looking forward to the next one.DeeEss57 wrote:Saw the new movie this afternoon. And, I liked it.

Re: Star Trek
I agree. Very good movie. Good story, great characters and a fresh take while still staying true to the franchise (not an easy balancing act). But IMO the characters/writing made this movie. Great casting. I'm not a HUGE Star Trek fan, but I do appreciate it and followed it a bit growing up (more Next Gen though), including the movies. This one did the franchise proud. The ending gave me chills. Can't wait to buy it on Blu-Ray.
