Investigation Discovery Channel/OT/Off Season Discussion

Post by Vikefantam »

Anyone else hooked on this channel? 48 Hours Hard Evidence, Dateline, etc. Maybe I should have become a detective or PI.

I'm also hooked on Discovery Health but that's because I'm in the medical field. I love Untold Stories of the ER, Trauma, Life in the ER, Mystery ER, etc.

How about some good book recommendations? I have already read all of Lisa Gardner's, Tess Gerritsen's, Jeffery Deaver's, Stephen King's and most of Dean Koontz's books along with several others. All are excellent authors. I am now into Lee Child's Jack Reacher series but only have a couple to go (Reacher is the character who is a former military policeman and travels around helping people). I love medical mysteries and murder mysteries.

Also, has anyone seen the Clint Eastwood Movie Gran Torino? Is it worth going to see?

Thanks!

Hmm... since you've read most of Koontz I'm assuming you've already read the Odd Thomas and Frankenstein series. If not, I would recommend those. What about Dan Brown? If you've only read the DaVinci Code, I would recommend Angels and Demons.

A different genre but I liked The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. Sorry these are all rather old books, I haven't read any new non-fiction in a while.

Haven't seen it but a co-worker highly recommended it.

I saw it last weekend and I thought it was fantastic. It was less overtly violent then I thought it might be from the previews. Very well done.

Thanks, S197 and Geoff for your recommendations. I haven't read Dan Brown yet but have some of his books. My neighbor and I exchange books. I have read so many books, it's not funny (at least 40+ a year (Ann Rule, Tess Gerritsen, Michael Palmer, Dean Koontz, Stephen King, Lee Child, etc. etc. etc.). I highly recommend Lee Child. He is excellent.

I got a Barnes & Noble gift card for Christmas. Gotta put it to good use. :D
