I got a promotion

I got a promotion
Not a huge promotion but a much easier job physically.
No more physical work for me anymore guys. I passed my interview
and got a Operations job in my warehouse. I basically am a tech assistant,
,slash fix, clean, paint, repair this guy now(not bathrooms and stuff like that)
I even get to drive this huge scrubber that looks like a zamboni(sp) machine.
It's a 1.5 million square feet facility so there is lots to do

Re: I got a promotion
Really glad to hear it. Good luck with that zamboni.
Re: I got a promotion
Congratulations.

Re: I got a promotion
a little bit more money
yeah John 1.5 million square feet it takes 6-7minutes to get across it in a straight
line at a very brisk walk.
The main thing its no hard physical work anymore. I'm 40 now and not in as good
a shape as I want to be currently. When I was thirty i could do the job pretty easily.
At 50 I really wonder if I could do it at all. If it takes me longer than I want to finish my degree
and move onto the next thing in life. No matter how long it takes me I can make good money
and benefits. In todays world thats not easy too find. I tried four time at least to get this job
before and didn't get it. Everyone at my work knows its an easy job and most want it.

Re: I got a promotion
Man, sounds like a big place. Congrats on the promotion.

Sounds like you put in your time and are being rewarded. Gratz
Re: I got a promotion
Congrats. Here's to you.
Re: I got a promotion
This is a tough time in the economy. It's nice to see someone got a promotion -- or got hired.
Yesterday, I heard about a government agency that's hiring two lawyers, and received 600 applications for those jobs. Crazy stuff.

I really think it depends on where you are at. In our area, it has had no effect at all. I dont know of anyone who has lost a job because of the economy....move to Northern Minnesota!!!DanAS1 wrote:This is a tough time in the economy. It's nice to see someone got a promotion -- or got hired.

Announced last week local company closing, 75 jobs gone. Layoffs at about a half dozen.VikingMachine wrote: I really think it depends on where you are at. In our area, it has had no effect at all. I dont know of anyone who has lost a job because of the economy....move to Northern Minnesota!!!
The impact hasn't been that bad here until last few months. Mainly manufacturing jobs. Still not a huge impact, but I doubt it's going to get any better.

14 months ago, after almost 5 years of working for 15 podiatrists and 20 offices doing medical billing, the stress was so bad, my hair was falling out in clumps, I was having chest pain, my stomach burned and I was having anxiety attacks on a regular basis. I was a wreck, as were most of the people doing billing for that place. They kept hiring more doctors, opening more offices and taking on new things, like durable medical equipment, new procedures, etc., and never hiring more billing staff. We were all overworked but they would give us more and tell us to deal with it. They counted our bathroom breaks and even told us we needed to stay more focused on our work (we would get an E-mail from the supervisor who sat across the room) if we stopped and chatted with someone for a few (maybe 2-3) minutes. Naturally, it made for a very very tense environment. Everyone snapped at each other all day long.
Well, I did some research and went back to something I loved doing several years ago - medical transcription. I work from home, get up about 1/2 before my shift. I shower at lunch, walk the dogs when they need to go, not when it's convenient for me. I get paid by the line so the more work I want to pile on myself, the more I get paid. I'm making between $250-500 more a month doing this, and my hair is no longer falling out, the panic attacks and chest pain are gone, and I no longer have to worry about something happening to my dogs while I'm gone. No more scraping snow and ice off my car just to get to work.
Anyway, again, congrats.

Re: I got a promotion
Thats great Tammy
I am glad you found something that makes you happy.
it amazing how companies can push people like that. There
are some good people where I work that are a little older and have trouble
making production and they are riding them hard. I don't feel sorry for the kids
e hire that call in all the time and screw up stuff though.
