The dude's gotten off to one heck of a start, have you noticed? He ended last evening's game with a walk off homerun and the AL lead in round trippers.
Good for him!
Meanwhile, his former team, the Minnesota Twins, is playing respectable ball as well. 3-5 in the Major Leagues is pretty good for a triple AAA team.
So I guess it's all good, right? The Angels get their big time player, and the Twins get the cut-rate payroll they seem to want (if they can't be contracted).
This is going to be a LONG season in Minnesota.
But seriously, go Torii!

LOL! They are an advanced AAA team, since they have Mauer and Morneau.

LOL at the AAA team part. Its definitely going to be a long season, too bad Pohlad won't invest into the teamDanAS1 wrote:The dude's gotten off to one heck of a start, have you noticed? He ended last evening's game with a walk off homerun and the AL lead in round trippers.

All kidding aside, we could bring back Bonds in his prime -- roids and all -- and he still wouldn't be enough to bring this team back to contention. Pitchers could simply walk him and they'd probably emerge from the inning unscathed.Demi wrote:I throw up watching this offense! It's offensive! I want Bonds at DH!
Bonds for DH! I hate 'roids, I hate cheaters, I hate liars, BUT I HATE CRAPPY SMALL BALL PUNT AND A STEAL CRAP TOO!
I want to be entertained, I want moon shots, I...want a cheater.

Hey, whatever scores runs works for me. But small ball doesn't work unless you have a large number of very adept punch and judy hitters. Assembling a combo of stiffs and singles hitters won't do it.VikingMachine wrote:I dont mind playing "small ball"...i find it pretty entertaining its just a different style of play is all.
Stiffs is exactly what we have. It'd be fine if we had an entire offense of Gomez's. But we don't. We have guys who's only chance is returning to career year type seasons.DanAS1 wrote: Hey, whatever scores runs works for me. Oh, small ball also requires competent pitching to keep games management in most cases, which might work with the top pitcher in the game, a great young guy tearing it up, and a pair or trio of savvy veterans. Right now we have one...and he's throwing the ball slower than your grandma drives on the interstate!
Bonds would give me something to hope for at least. Sure ain't holding my breath for anyone else on this team to get walked for any reason other than getting to the stiff next in the batting order.
