Well I'm happy I have owners insurance today.

We had a huge tropical storm go through our area

and I have less roofing material than before and a back

yard fence that is not doing well.

70 mile hour gust's of wind are quite powerful !

I was wondering how difficult it was to get home owners insurance -- or at least affordable insurance -- in certain parts of your state. Y'all have all sorts of crazy stuff go on in Cally (fires, earthquakes, you name it).

Hope you and your family are alright Jackal. I just saw clips of the damage out there on the news. Looks pretty nasty.

family is fine.. roof not so good

fence even worse.. actually being held up by over dozen
2x4's

Just in the few blocks from house to the highway I saw a dozen
fences down and several damaged roof tops.

Homeowners is not bad for me because I am grand fathered into
a old style policy. We bought the house about 12 years ago before
they was some changes to insurance law and such.

My Boss won't be too happy with me but he can build a bridge
and get over it. Family and Home comes first too me.

Strong winds can tear things apart in a hurry. We've had our moments here and I'm sure Mike's area has seen a few tornados. We had two trees fall on our house one night.

Well the wind part is over at least the really strong part
but we got four storms coming through till thursday next week.

The insurance company has been great so far I
have to call them back and let them know the fence is
toast. The wind was strong it up-rooted the posts out
of the ground.

Wow! It is incredible what wind can do... we've seen it. Heck, driving isn't even safe in those winds.

The West will experience many impacts from storm systems moving through the region this weekend. Heavy rain and snow will fall all along the coast and in the mountain ranges just to the east. There are numerous watches and warnings out for California, Oregon, and Washington. Potent winds over 70 mph are howling with gusts to 120 mph possible over the ridges of the Sierra. Heavy snow is also expected to fall in the mountains with as much as 5-8 feet above 7,000 feet in the Sierra. Winds will blow the snow, creating blizzard conditions as the storm pushes through. Heavy rain will cause flooding for some areas, and mudslides are a potential risk with the copious amounts of precipitation. Travel will be treacherous over the weekend for the majority of the region, and travelers should exercise caution.

120 mph wind gusts? 5-8 feet of snow? Are we sure this isn't the storm from "Day After Tomorrow"??

well I have a brand new roof now and will have to
wait on the fence for better weather.
