And any team willing to trade endless picks for AD likely already has their QB--and chances are they won't be picking high enough to land that "sure-thing QB" from the draft, if there is such a thing. It just doesn't add up. It really doesn't. Trading AP for anything less than a sure-thing QB (preferrably an already proven NFL starter) is straight up foolish to me.
Unfortunately, there won't be an Andrew Luck for a while. In the mean time, I rather just keep the league MVP and hope to hit on one of the QB's in the later round ala a Russell Wilson. Chances are slim indeed, but I do believe that building a team around Peterson can work.
Yep. That's what we have to hope for. I, too, believe it's possible. Heck, if nothing else, it makes more sense than trading away our best player for the unknown of draft picks. But maybe we can even things out a bit and get an average QB and an average running back. We'd win the Super Bowl for sure.

Trading excellence for hopefuls. Yesssss! Go Vikes!

Yeah, but that is a player/player and picks trade. I said I could get down with that, but risking it all on draft picks alone? Nope. Like I said, what are people going to do if it doesn't work out as planned (because we all know there is a good chance of it NOT working out as planned, especially as speedy as Vikings fans would like)? People are going to complain we still don't have a QB, don't have AP, and the team sucks. As long as we have AP, we have a chance. Also, even a player/player trade, has to be real good, because essentially we are trading AP for what another team views as a backup QB. I mean, I know we are desperate for a QB, but come on.

Well I hope that trade includes coaches and coordinators too because even if we got Kaep and Willis we would use them wrong or not to their strengths. A lot of people are mad because we can't get Patterson into the game plan, but it shouldn't surprise anyone because we haven't been able to figure out how to get a freak like Joe Webb into the game plan going on 2-3 years now. Plus we asked him to be a pocket passer in the playoff game. Clearly not his strength. Yeah this team really doesn't know how to utilize talent. Kaep would be out there throwing check downs to Gerhart, and Willis would look like an average LB in our conservative cover 0 let em catch it scheme.

Why "later" rounds? The Vikings look like could end up with a top 15 pick this year, maybe even a top 10 pick. Just don't reach with that pick or trade away additional picks to move up a few spots.

This is just my opinion. Building around Peterson was the dumbest idea ever. All in All, in the running game he is a monster. But in the passing game he is ineffective. He can't block for his QB or become a reliable checkdown RB. Not his fault though. If we truly want to win championships with Ponder as our QB and average O-Line, we need a Reggie Bush type back who can block and receive the ball if necessary.
But we can always wait, which is what the Vikings are going to do anyway. We're going to keep waiting on Ponder to get better or for him to play so bad that we will look for another QB. By the time that happens Peterson will probably be in his mid30's by then.

Quit stealing my thoughts!!! If we had Rodgers (and I don't want him) he'd be throwing 4 yard passes to Carlson. Its simply inexcusable that people like Webb ride the bench for years while Ponder flubs his way around week after week year after year like a 3 legged tortoise (smiling and laughing all the while) without even the threat of being sidelined. This coaching staff is completely clueless and is ruining multiple careers. I give Frazier credit for instilling better discipline than we had under Childress, but that's about it.

It's just the players.

Leslie Frazier's coaching staff logic: We don't need a good QB starting, or our best WRs on the field, just keep feeding the ball to MVPeterson and everything else will be taken care of.
Now Im not sure about Joe Webb. I think he's pretty garbage as a QB, but I do agree about the Vikings not be able to utilize talent. They failed to do so with Harvin until last season, they are still failing to use Joe Webb even as a WR, Greg Jennings is barely touching the ball, Kyle Rudolph is barely getting the ball too, Desmond Bishop is pretty self explanatory.
Frazier overall seems like a nice and respectable human being but as a coach, he does not know how to assemble a game winning roster. He has guys starting that should be benched or cut. And he has guys that are benched that should be starting. And his Offensive Coordinator Bill Musgrave seem to have a difficult time designing plays for other playmakers that are not Adrian Peterson.

Smart move by the Browns, even if the fans don't like it. He wasn't that good. They can easily pick up his replacement in the fourth round next year. They never should have wasted a first round pick on a running back in the first place.

Try not to look foolish by saying that he wasn't that good, Really? He rushed for nearly 1000 yards, had 11 tds and broke Jim Brown's rookie rushing record. The Colts, who will be in the top 5-10 teams in the league will surrender a late 20's draft pick for him. I don't agree that they will replace him with a fourth round draft pick at all. He played on a crummy team and now will explode playing on a very good team. The Vikings got a much better trade deal by swapping Harvin than what they got.

Colts had Leshoure, Gerhart on radar before acquiring Richardson

Wow. Imagine if the Vikings could have picked up a nice mid-round draft pick for Gerhart. Would love to know how the Colts/Vikings dialog went during that inquiry.

Probably ended pretty quickly when they were offered Richardson for only a first lol.
