PHP, where do you see Aaron Murray going? I know a lot depends on his recovery from his ACL tear, but do you see the Vikings going after him in the 2nd or 3rd round at all?
and BTW, great post. I liked reading about your thoughts on the picks.

Much appreciated! I like Murray as well. However, if we were to take him, he would be a very very risky pick. The ACL tear is going to keep him out of the combine and in turn, I think we will see him fall further than expected. We would be taking a shot in the dark. I would say anywhere between rounds 4-6. If we were to stockpile draft picks for whatever reason and he's still on the board late even though we already drafted a QB by then, I wouldn't mind taking him. Similar to what Washington did with Cousins.PurpleMustReign wrote:PHP, where do you see Aaron Murray going? Re: "Spielman Owning the Draft Once Again" Mock Offseason
Haha Yeah I wouldn't have expected us to ever land Floyd and Patterson either. That why when everyone says..."are you out of your mind...no way Manziel is making it that far".....you never know!!! If this was last year and I said we were taking Floyd at 23 everyone would think I was drunklosperros wrote: That's impressive. Very cool. I liked Rhodes a lot when he played as a Seminole, but in no way did I believe he was going to be a Viking. I'm thrilled that he's on the team.
But then, I was convinced that Floyd would be off the board and Patterson would probably be as well when the Vikings picked in R1.
What do I know?

As for my mock last year, I actually had us taking Rhodes at 23 instead of 25 and I had us grabbing Hodges in the 3rd instead of the 4th. So I was a little off but either way we still landed them

The player I had us taking at 25 was DeAndre Hopkins. I was a big Hopkins lover but I'm glad it didn't happen because I love Patterson even more!

Come on, how much impact should a combine have on a QB? What the WHAT! How was Peyton and Brady and Brees in the combine? Remove their ACL a year later they're still top 3 QBs in the league!Pondering Her Percy wrote: Much appreciated! I like Murray as well. Risky? ACL injury to a QB? Madness! Maybe a Manziel or Boyd or some such. But Murray? A super bowl winning QB only needs one ACL. Just ask Flacco. He might not have an ACL at all. Who knows!

This isn't a receiver or corner we need 40 times and shuttles. Go watch film, that's what matters. Real QBs don't rely on being able to run and cut to make plays. Brady tore his ACL and more, boy I'd hate to be him going forward a handful of years ago.
You're going to guarantee Spielman drafting a QB I like is going to result in me being negative about the pick? Give me a break. Unlike you I don't go around hedging my bets on every possible pick at QB. I have no problem if he takes him in the 2nd or 3rd. Unlike Carr, Bortles, and Boyd. Who I wouldn't waste a rookie minimum contract as an undrafted free agent on....

Crazy. How has RG111 been playing since his ACL injury

No he is twice as good as Murray was until his INSIGNIFICANT ACL injury, which devastated his career in his second year (night and day). Pay attention to his 4 years of rating 142, 142, 144, 189= career average of 158.9 his senior year 4293 yds. with 37 tds. and 6 ints.Demi wrote: Because his skill set is comparable to Murray, huh?
NO CONTEST!! RG#3 was unstoppable until he tore up his ACL his rookie year.
Compare his college stats to Murrays: Passing

2009 Baylor Big 12 QB 3 45 69 65.2 481 7.0 8.1 4 0 142.9

I would love to get Murray in the 4th or 5th round, I hope he does fall because of it, if we take a QB in the 2nd round and murray in the 5th that'd be sick!

Re: "Spielman Owning the Draft Once Again" Mock Offseason
If I went that route I would take him as the 2nd QB taken in our draft in the 4th or so. A lot depends on Cassel, and if he decides to opt out or not. If he does you have Ponder, thats it! At that point you must draft 2 QBs, because free agency doesn't look very promising.mondry wrote:I would love to get Murray in the 4th or 5th round, I hope he does fall because of it, if we take a QB in the 2nd round and murray in the 5th that'd be sick!

Re: "Spielman Owning the Draft Once Again" Mock Offseason
lol hedging my bets huh?? You've mentioned QBs like Tom Brady, Manning, and Brees....3 of arguably the best QBs in the league and then you add in a "possible" late round sleeper in Murray. Murray shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence as those guys. They are better than Murray with their eyes closed. Just because they can still be very good after something like that doesn't guarantee Murray can so it looks like you're really "hedging your bet" here. By no means am I saying Murray will be a bad pick but that early....that's about as risky as you can get. He was projected to go in the 3rd round BEFORE his injury and now you think that a torn ACL will somehow make him not fall at all?? You might want to take those blinders off.Demi wrote:This isn't a receiver or corner we need 40 times and shuttles. Go watch film, that's what matters. Wouldn't waste rookie minimum on those guys huh?? That just shows how clueless you are about the QBs in this class. There are GMs and scouts out there that love Carr, Bortles, and/or Boyd but wait....you know more than them right?? Maybe you should go be a GM or scout. Just don't become one for the Vikings. Go destroy someone else's franchise with your clueless logic.
