The only way it makes sense is if the Browns' front office is doing exactly what it denies -- tanking the season in order to draft Teddy Bridgewater, then have another first-round pick from the Richardson trade.

To tank the season after Week 2 ... pathetic if true.

The Browns are just being aggressive. Maybe they believe they're not going anywhere this year. Tough to say when you consider how bad their division looks this year, but for whatever reason, they've decided to go all in on the future. They signed McGahee just to get them through the rest of the season. I doubt he's part of the long term plan.

It would be insanely stupid to trade AD.

That's the kind of thinking that brought Hershel Walker to the team. You aren't trading the stats, you're trading (or drafting) the man. The Vikes offense is built to run. The offensive philosophy is to open up passing lanes by drawing the defense in (hopefully). Having Rogers or Bridgewater or whomever would still mean they would be playing under the same system.

There's no real way to trade Peterson because he makes 100 million dollars and doesn't play QB. Not many teams wouldn't immediately be well over the cap the second that one goes through. The draft picks are one thing but most teams aren't willing to commit 100 million to a RB.

That's what I was thinking. Trade Peterson while he's still in his prime and get us some draft good picks. And besides Peterson deserves to be on a team who is legit super bowl contender, I don't like his chances winning one with this team. Im not saying he won't win one with us but how our team has played so far, we look like a 7-9 team at best.
Has it come to this :?: 2 games into the second year of a three year rebuild that you would consider trading the NFL's MVP, the face of the franchize and most dynamic player :wallbang:
I think that this team has a good plan, has had back to back good drafts, Ponder will sink or swim this year, and the team is definately headed in the right direction. Who would replace AD  Contrary to some self proclaimed experts great running backs are not a dime a dozen. No one predicted anything more than possibly another wild card this year but to keep building this team to be ready NEXT year for a championship run. So glad that none of you have any say in what direction this team goes but of course we all have our own ideas.

Too many fans are attached to Peterson, that is people don't want him to leave. I love Peterson too but I understand that the NFL is a business. Great players get traded off teams all the time, so trading him wouldn't be abnormal. NEXT YEAR, NEXT YEAR, NEXT YEAR, how many times how we've been preparing for "Next Year"? According to most fans LAST YEAR, this year was suppose to be the "Next Year" we make it. Every season, we're going to be hollering about "next year." If we are truly trying to rebuild, lets trade Peterson and rebuild all over again. We've been trying to build around Peterson for years, nothing has work. The closest we got to the super bowl was off the back of a QB, not Peterson. Time to face the facts. The best Peterson will ever be able to do is keep the team from blacking out game sells. He's getting older and will eventually lose a step. We cant keep waiting on "next year." What if Peterson goes down "next year."

This seems to be a very outlandish to say that too many people are attached to AD is over the top. Of course they are "attached" to him. Is there a reason that anyone wouldn't be even fans from other teams. He is the MVP and the most dynamic player in the NFL and will end up being the all time rushing leader. I am not sure if you are aware of what I was saying about this team being in a 3 year rebuild but that is what Spielman proclaimed and I happen to believe him.

You wouldn't have to worry about making that decision.

It would never happen. Nobody would trade the best QB in the league (actually, they wouldn't trade any of the best ten QBs in the league) for the best RB in the history of the NFL. Just a simple fact of how things work and the relative values of players at different positions.

*sigh* Not the trade AP talk again. Why are Vikings fans so dramatic?

The only way this trade would ever make sense for the Vikings if it was for an already proven QB. And as some shared here, that's extremely unlikely, and plus you have his contract to consider--which is another no go.

You guys would actually be willing to trade AP for draft picks right now? Are you out of your minds? Any team willing to trade for AP would already have a good to great QB in place and would probably be a pretty darn good team, so their 1st round pick would be middle to late--and who cares what else they would give us. Y'all are trying to get a QB, right?

Yeah, because we all know the huge success rate of drafting a true franchise QB. I'll let you ponder that for a bit. It's so easy, right? Yeah, let's trade AP for draft picks, so we can bomb those picks and listen to Vikings fans b**** about how we still don't have a QB, and now we don't even have AP to bail us out. Wow. Brilliant idea. :appl:

If drafting a franchise QB was so easy, we'd have one by now. And so would everyone else. It wouldn't be a big deal. Trying to draft one early is such a huge gamble. Trying to trade away your best player--and the league MVP--to have one more shot at it is ridiculous. There is a 90% chance it wouldn't work out, and a 99% chance he wouldn't develop as quickly as Vikings fans would want him to. I'm not much into gambling, but I can't imagine anyone would like those odds.

Time to stop being foolish. Also, time to stop feeling sorry for AP, and suggesting he's bigger than the team. If he felt that way, he wouldn't be half the player he is. I can guarantee that.

Oh yeah. Let's trade the only guy on offense the opposing defense respects. I mean it is not like Ponder is not shaky enough with Peterson in backfield, but Matt Asiata and Toby Gerhart can easily lead us to victory.

Anyway, back on topic of the Browns. What a #### team. No wonder they haven't been in the playoffs since Kelly Holcomb quaterbacked them into a spot in 2002 (2003?). In reality, they were gonna suck anyway. There is no reason to become worse at a position because you may potentially get better elsewhere.

Say whatever you want about the Browns. The news here, to me, is that the Colts just got much better on offense.

Luck and Richardson.....like Emmitt and Aikman.

Are people honestly advocating we follow in the footsteps of the Cleveland Browns' management?

Who cares about AP being our only source of offense, trade him now while he's still good and lets rebuild from the ground up. For those who think this is a ridiculous suggestion, how many more productive years will Peterson waste waiting for Ponder to get better or for us to get a better QB? Unless people are just content with avoiding blackouts or selling jerseys, then I see no reason for the team to continue to waste the talent he has left on this forever struggling team. Lets trade him now.
