Told ya.

Happened even sooner than I thought.

Here's what else this means. The Wilfs have hitched their wagon to Rick Spielman, and by extension Mike Zimmer. They're true believers.

I hate being the bearer of news you don't like, but you could see this coming from 10 miles away.

Do you think so?

I would think an extension of Spielman and Zimmer would be an indicator of that, not what is essentially a 1 year extension of a QB when most so-called franchise QBs get 5 year extensions.

Yes, I do. Not based solely on this, however. Every indication from every source I read -- and trust me when I tell you that I read a LOT -- says the Wilfs love Spielman and Zimmer.

Personally, I want to see the Vikings make the postseason again this year. That's step 1. Zimmer has never had two consecutive playoff seasons, and that needs to happen. Of course, we all want more than that, and I'm no exception. But if the team takes a step backwards, as it always seems to do in even-numbered years, I'll be more disappointed than normal. I've always liked Mike Zimmer, from the day he was hired. But the Vikings need to stay in the playoff picture, or I'll likely be ready to abandon ship.

Go ahead. I dare you.
Underestimate this man.
