Stat. Treadwell led Vikings in receiving yds (58yds). Cook was #2.

This team is not a viable contender this year. They may still get to 10 wins, but they aren't going to be able to compete until they find a better all around qb.

Seems they loaded up to stop Cook and did a pretty good job. So Diggs and Thielen should have had opportunities and were invisible. Kirk had some wildly inaccurate throws and the oline wasn't very effective today either.

On defense what happened on that long run?
Also, why do you have Alexander on Kelce?
Also, why on an all out up the gut blitz do you leave the short middle pass wide open?


On special teams what was up with the missed extra point and shanked field goal at the worst time?

Just a bad day all around and a game they should have won on paper.

Would like to know where our defense that has 5 first rounders and 4 second/third rounders has gone. They certainly aren't playing up to their talent.

I thought Kirk was fine. Missed some weird short throws but was clutch when we needed him.

Vikings fans turnout was incredible. I'd say 40% of the stadium. Even the KC people said they never saw anything like it. It was fun, my brother is a Chiefs fan hence the reason I was there. At least it was a good game.

In the last quarter alone anyone can see how effective our blitz packages are, but we do not use them enough. In a couple of instances we almost got turnovers off the blitz. Just don't know why the Vikings don't do more of it. I just don't know how the last two drives the offense had the ball were just AWFUL!!!! They took know time of the clock and they were both three and outs. This is what you call CHOKING!!!!! This is where it would be nice to have a QB who can run and get us out of these plays that break down. Cousins is just a sitting duck back there.
2. Offensive Line
There are just too many positive plays that are being called back because of stupid penalties. Elflein is just overmatched pretty much every game this years. Why Dakota Dozier or even Dru Samia are not getting reps is beyond me. Dalvin Cook could really not get anything going on the ground today.
3. Defensive backs
Can someone tell me what kind of pass coverage Trae Waynes was playing on the deep ball to Tyreek Hill on the drive with the field goal to tie it up? I have seen high school players with better coverage than that. Rhodes again seemed lost out there. Rhodes and Elflein right now are our biggest liabilities.
4. Kicking game
What is it with Vikings and kickers? I know Bailey just won the award for special teams player, but missing that extra point was huge. Also, late in the fourth Colquitt cannot have a shank punt there for only 20 yards deep in Vikings territory and give them that short of a field. Kicking game just killed us today.

Again, also having Thielen reinjure his hamstring was big, but these are the games YOU HAVE TO WIN and not give them away.

Waynes was playing man and bit HARD on the double move. Hill should have scored with a better placed ball.

To me, this team is the epitome of a mediocre team with an inflated record due to such an easy schedule.

Coaching - mediocre. Zimmer is a good (if overrated) D coordinator but isn't a good overall manager. He is horrible on offense. He's a bit of an enigma to me in this respect because its clear he recognizes his deficiencies on offense, hires an OC, cedes control of the offense to the OC, but then tries to micromanage him. Just very bizarre

Defense -very mediocre. They have some big "names" and contracts, but their performance is simply average. This is not a dominant D. They can look great for stretches, but then have stretches where they just can't stop the O and just cannot get off the field. For long, TIME CONSUMING drives.

Offense -again, average, maybe slightly above. Can look great against bad Defenses. But against good or even average but aggressive defense, they can crumble. OLine is improving but still not good. Elflein is a mess. Good RB and WRs, but Cousins is inconsistent and lacks confidence. When things are going well he looks like a top 5 QB. But he's not trustworthy when the pressure is on.

Special teams - ouch. No more to be said.

6-3. against teams with a combined record 31-41. they've played 3 teams with a winning record and are 1-2.

I think we will squeak into the playoffs due to our easy schedule, but will lose on the Road in the WC round.

All phases showed flashes but also made big mistakes. 6-3 is so different from being 7-2, and it'll feel even worse if GB wins today.

Cousins didn’t have any turnovers. If anything he was inaccurate today which doesn’t happen often. If it wasn’t for him we would have been blown out. But when do the Vikings lose and nobody blames cousins for the loss? It literally never happens

We lost on a last-second field goal on the road at one of the toughest places to play in the NFL. Am I depressed about it? Yeah. Could we have won? Sure. Should we have won? Probably. But you know what? The Chiefs had to play their absolute best, at home, to barely outlast a pretty mediocre effort by us.

Y'all can give up hope if you want. I'm down, but I choose to hang in there. I still like our team.

I'm gonna agree with ya that we aren't a viable contender and if we do make the playoffs we prob aren't going deep. But I don't think the QB situation is the only reason. It's a part of it, arguably a big point.
But our interior O line aren't good . Period.
Our D is supposed to be so amazing. But its not amazing. It's good. But it also has serious lapses at the most inopportune times.
Our team as a whole commits WAY too many penalties, and most of them ways seems to come up to negate a very important play, on both sides of the ball.
Our special teams are average at best. Bailey can't be trusted. Colquitt is a good punter, but he blew it at the WORST time today.
We dont have a real threat as far as our kick off or punt returners. Seriously I never catch myself anticipating a big return ever.
We also never really even come close to blocking a punt or FG attempt.
We are a team of alot of outstanding talented players and look great on paper. But for some reason we can't consistently translate it to actual success on the field.
I hate being negative man. I love my Vikings and am really a hard core fan, but games like today just get harder and harder to handle.
It gets frustrating. Days like today. I mean other than the fumble we recovered at the beginning of the 2nd half, look at the fumbles we caused that just didnt bounce our way. It was weird today.
It sucks to watch our kicker miss a freakin extra point, which allowed their kicker to make a 53 or 54 game tying FG instead of the Chiefs having to score a TD to go ahead. Then watch their kicker trot out and make another long game winner.
I certainly wouldn't ha e had faith in Bailey going for the win in that situation.
I will agree Kirk was off today man. Very inaccurate today, was missing open guys, but he was also getting pressured, especially because Elf and Bradbury were being pushed right back into him.
And sorry, but a veteran starting QB NEEDS to know where the line is to get a 1st down and not do a stupid slide 2 yards early. That was inexcusable.
I'm just really overly ticked off at today's game. Like I said in the chat and other post, today, as a TEAM, coaching staff included, did alot of stupid stuff and we gave the game to them. I even think of the play where they gave Abdullah the generous spot. I guarentee you Brady, Brees or Erin would got up there and ran the play. It was like we were just begging Reid to throw the challenge flag. They shoulda been in Cousins ear telling him to get the ball snapped.
Cousins didn't play well today, but there is blame to be placed all the way around today.
Ok my rant is done. I need to try and let it go. Today's game just really pissed me off today. Reminded me of the Buffalo game last year. We should have won and we have it away.

The pressure was on cousins and he continued to throw TD passes in the red zone to take back the lead. Penalties and bad play calls are what hurt us

Another Cousins loss to an above .500 team. It's like the freddy krueger stat that just won't die.

I agree with this. No reason to give up hope and overreact to one game, it's part of the ups and downs of a football season. What this does it put more pressure on our game in Dallas next week. Didn't a few on this board say they were going to that game?
