I think Foles and especially Bradford would be good options. Bradford worked with Shumur before and was ROTY under him. I wouldn't want to give up anything more than a 3rd for Bradford or a 5th for Foles though.

My head says Zim will stay with Hill. And why not? his TD/INT are better than most of the backup's mentioned already. It shows he is more reliable. His big question mark, is how he stays on his feet with our o-line, as he's not the most fleet of foot.
But i've voted to trade for another QB. I think Zach Mettenburger has intriguing upside. He has good arm strength, and doesn't stare down 1 receiver constantly like others mentioned (especially aaron murray, he's like christian ponder 2.0).
Obviously the best scenario is AJ McCarron, but i cant see this happening.
Mettenburger for me. All or nothing faeces or bust time.

Mettenberger was just released I believe, so that option will now be even more cheap and possible.

Sorensen is flying back in, and Heinicke is ahead of schedule by a few weeks.
P.S. I voted Other. I want AJ McCarron also, but I know this is never going to happen. In that years draft I wanted Teddy, Mettenberger or AJ

Why would the Bengals trade their backup and leave them with zero depth? Makes no sense.

Hill is the quarterback this year, maybe Heineke later in the season. To think someone can come in and just pick up the system and have chemistry is just asinine.

Hill will be qb until he gets injured by a RDE.
Jest I know but I do fear for him on the blind side with little mobility aged 36

This is the only rational thought in this annoying thread.

I actually disagree. They could probably bring in a QB and get him up to speed by mid-season, if not sooner. He might not have a comprehensive knowledge of the system by then but he'd probably be able to run enough of the offense.
If the Vikes are going to make a move, unless they can get a good QB with experience running the system, I think they should make a move for a young guy with possible starting potential (like McCarron or possibly Aaron Murray, who might be easily affordable or perhaps even hit the open market soon). A young player like that (along with Heineke, if they believe he has sufficient potential) could learn the system this year and potentially compete next year.
As far as I'm concerned, the Vikings need to re-think their approach to this position. They need young competition for Bridgewater next year. If that competition isn't on the roster they need to draft someone to fill that role. They need to stop thinking the Cassels and Hills of the league are adequate backups and start developing more depth and a real "Plan B" at the position. Furthermore, they need to face the fact that Bridgewater may not be their future at QB. I know many don't want to hear that but this was an important season for him to demonstrate, unequivocally, that he could actually become the franchise QB they (and many fans) seem to believe he is already. Now he's losing a year of development, and a year of his contract, to an injury serious enough that it's unclear if he'll be able to even pick up where he left off next season. Hopefully, he'll make a full recovery and be ready to go next summer but even if he does, he'll be in the final year of his contract with yet more to prove.
This Vikings team has spent too many years putting all of their eggs in one basket at the QB position. They need to move forward as if their future at the position is uncertain, not as if this is just a year they have to get through and then their franchise QB will be back in place and all will be well. They need to do that because the future of the position
remains uncertain.
Sorry, I know nobody wants to hear most of that but that's the harsh reality of the situation. Whether we thought the Vikings had a legitimate franchise QB or not, they don't clearly have one now.

I agree. The silver lining to this whole situation is that hopefully it forces the Vikings to get some decent depth at QB for the foreseeable future. Best case scenario is they bring in a young guy like Murray, Mettenberger, Glennon, etc and he plays well this season. Then we'll have back-up options next year, trade bait, or a plan B if Teddy doesn't have a full recovery.
If we just roll with Hill as our starter and don't bring in anyone else, once we go 1-3 to start the year I'd rather tank the rest of it to grab a nice OL in next year's draft.
