Here is Addidon's dad take. Pushups should solve it.
After watching his son catch just 1-of-6 targets and fail to gain a single yard forward, Rolando Addison Sr. sent a heated message on social media afterward, critiquing his Jordan, the defense and even head coach Kevin O’Connell.
“I want pushups the plane ride back nonstop. The defense needs to do them with you for allowing Gibbs to get 4 touchdowns,” Rolando wrote on X (formerly Twitter) in a now-deleted post. “Also KOC can do them with ya because he got out coached.”

Re: Vikings @ Lions
Interesting take by Addison's dad. So the problem was a lack of effort or focus?CharVike wrote: ↑Mon Jan 06, 2025 3:15 pm Here is Addidon's dad take. Pushups should solve it.

From what I saw, Addison was never really open. Granted, the camera angles don't allow for TV viewers to see routes as they develop, but I can't remember any of those 6 attempts where Addison was really open. The one he caught was behind the LOS and the Lions defender was on him almost immediately.
Addison might not be great at beating tight man coverage. He's not the biggest guy and if a defender presses him and locks him up early he might just not be good enough to beat that.
But from what I saw it didn't look like any of the Vikings receivers were good enough to beat it. The Lions were almost forced to start taking people out of the crowd to play DB, but even against the 3rd stringers the Vikings wideouts couldn't get separation or make plays. As a group they got the lowest marks from me in yesterday's game, and that says a lot because overall I give the offense a D-. The only players on offense I thought did much of anything yesterday were the running backs. They played hard and nearly got a few in. Everyone else was B-league. Yeah, the Lions were aggressive. Yada yada yada. They are a banged up defense and that will show against a solid offensive team no matter the scheme the Lions try to run.
The Vikings, at least yesterday, were far from a solid offensive team. They weren't ready for the moment. We'll see if another week makes any difference for them going forward.
Re: Vikings @ Lions
The Lions covered our guys better than any team I can remember this year. Maybe the previous Packer game took more out of us than expected. Even the Packers were beat. That game set both teams back. I'll give the Lions credit. They seemed to have an answer for anything we tried. The play you described to Addison is an example. Inside the red zone killed us. I was expecting that TE route when he drags across the field close to the goal line. Never saw it. Darnold was off even on most of his completions. We never got the offense on track. This next game will tell many things about the now and future.VikingLord wrote: ↑Mon Jan 06, 2025 3:59 pmInteresting take by Addison's dad. Re: Vikings @ Lions
I mean, the 58-yard run by Cam Akers proves your point. With a team blitzing on virtually every down, all you need is to pop a couple, and the opponent will be forced to play the run honestly. But KOC, for all his acumen in the passing game, abandons the run far too easily. Another way to beat a blitz is to toss in a few well-timed screen passes. But we just kept going down the field 15, 20, 25 yards.VikingLord wrote: ↑Mon Jan 06, 2025 2:30 pmYeah, KOC should have just called for runs and power football at some point. Having a jittery QB who wasn't accurate or decisive keep dropping back killed them, especially in those situations. With the way the Lions were gambling on defense the Vikings could have broken multiple big runs. They just had to keep trying, and maybe had they punched a few in on the ground that would have settled Darnold down. But for whatever reason KOC just had to have it his way and the team paid the price.J. Kapp 11 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 06, 2025 2:03 pm
Four times in the red zone. Three times with first-and-goal. Six total points.
Kevin O’Connell, my favorite coach since Bud Grant, got worked.
It will be really interesting to see how KOC calls the game against the Rams. If the Rams do anything differently from what the Lions defense just did I'll be shocked. I'll also be equally shocked if KOC puts the game into Darnold's hands, especially early. But there is a part of me that suspects KOC is going to try to send a message that he trusts Darnold and will just effectively bull rush the offense to show it can beat that defensive scheme. Good luck with that.
Let’s hope all this gets ironed out before the Vikes take on the Rams. No matter how far we go this year, going one-and-done is no fun.
Go ahead. I dare you.
Underestimate this man.
Re: Vikings @ Lions
He blamed the defense too. Haha. No credibility to the take. Defense was great for a long time last night and finally broke late after the offense continued to be non-existent.VikingLord wrote: ↑Mon Jan 06, 2025 3:59 pmInteresting take by Addison's dad. Re: Vikings @ Lions
Your right about the credibility. You shouldn't post if your're pissed but that's easier said than done. Last week when Willow missed the game sealing FG I would have posted I hope we bring the other stiff kicker back. And this week when he hit a duck hook on the KO before half I would have posted tell him to stay in the locker room. We need winners out here. But nobody cares about a post from me.makila wrote: ↑Mon Jan 06, 2025 8:14 pmHe blamed the defense too. Haha. No credibility to the take.
