He was our kicker when I first started watching in the 1970 season. Kickers were less accurate in those days. Fred was straight on old school and one of the best in the league.

He was a very good kicker for that time period. He played a long time and remember the last few seasons I was like how long is he going to play because his KO were short and anything over 40 was a coin flip odds of making it. Stenerud was one of the early soccer style kickers and I remember our father calling us in to watch this weird kicker. When he set up off to the side my brother said how the hell can he kick like that. He isn't even lined up straight. Little did we know the future was right in front of us.
