Not really. I specifically said, what matters is getting to the playoffs and getting hot in the playoffs. There was a point last season where the rams did not look like a legitimate Super Bowl team. Got beat by SF both times, whooped once. And beat them when it mattered most. They didn’t win a game the entire month of November. But again, they got hot at the right time. As did the bengals. Going into that postseason, not a soul would’ve predicted the rams vs the bengals. Point is, anything can happen when you get to the playoffs. That was a proven fact last year. A 4 seed vs a 4 seed. Was anyone saying “yeah the rams will be in the Super Bowl” after they got beat 31-10 by SF? Or after they lost their 3rd game in a row in November? Zero chance
Never thought i'd see the day where tampa bay would win a superbowl before the Vikings. Much less 2 superbowls lol. Considering how horrible an organization they were. The bears won a superbowl and reached another in 2006 and they're a horrible organization. Sell tickets and merch is all they care about. The Bears don't even own their own Stadium lol. (Park district property) Then you have the SAINTS LOl they may have cheated but, they still got to keep the trophy. SHould i keep going? The Broncos lost 4 superbowls. Before they managed to win a couple. Then you have a a slough of random teams that haven't won a superbowl but they got there in modern times. ie.. Cardinals, falcons, chargers, etc...... All the Viking have done is lose lose lose and it's really sad sad sad considering how passionate their fanbase is.
So I have to ask.
Why are you a Vikings fan? Or are you?
Why are you here on this message board? You seem to throw a lot of shade at the Vikings. Are you just here to troll?
Not calling your fanhood into question. These are legitimate questions. If you don’t think the Vikings will ever get past their history, then why follow them?

Go ahead. I dare you.
Underestimate this man.

To get back to the more interesting question of whether or not history matters, my first instinct was to say in the NFL that's not really a thing. Different management, basically completely new teams cycle through in the span of 4 or 5 years.
Then I thought about the Lions. History does indeed keep repeating itself with them. Against all odds. It seems like if the NFL plays 500 seasons the Lions will continue to be one of the worst teams somehow. All the first round picks and changes in players and personnel. I guess maybe it's the various Fords that have owned it?
In the case of the Vikings, to complain about them "lose lose losing" while they're 9-2 is ridiculous.

Yep. I too would stick with Bud until KOC had many great seasons. Not just the one best. Were Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson great QBs?Maelstrom88 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 20, 2022 4:10 pm I'm sticking with Bud. It would take multiple super bowl victories.

We are talking about O'Connell and Grant, not Dilfer and Johnson and what does Dilfer and Johnson have to do with O'Connell and Grant?VikingsVictorious wrote: ↑Wed Nov 30, 2022 10:34 amYep. Exactly. Nobody in here is unfamiliar with the Vikings history. We dont need it repeated to us. I honestly question the intent here as well. All I've seen is trolling and throwing shade at the Vikings in their best season in however many years. Something isnt adding up. CTV, you've mentioned that you've been on multiple boards and mentioned all the problems on these others board. However, I'm starting to wonder if you're the common denominator in the problems occurring on those boards.

They both won a Super Bowl. It's a comp to does winning one super bowl mean KOC is a better coach than Bud. I say no.VikingsFan84 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 30, 2022 11:14 amWe are talking about O'Connell and Grant, not Dilfer and Johnson and what does Dilfer and Johnson have to do with O'Connell and Grant?VikingsVictorious wrote: ↑Wed Nov 30, 2022 10:34 am

Re: If O'Connell wins a Superbowl
I would LOVE the main points of debate on this board to be about whether KOC is the greatest coach in Vikings history because he won the Superbowl this year. If people are arguing about that here, how great would that be?J. Kapp 11 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 25, 2022 9:50 pm But I gotta say … if O’Connell wins a Super Bowl, he goes to No. 1 for me. I used to watch football with my Dad and grandpa and uncles. Just watched the games primarily Bear games. and ask questions, So, one day i vaguely remember asking my dad " who is that guy?" My Dad said something like " That's Fran Tarkenton, He's the quarterback for the Vi kings. They're the bad guys" And a Vikings fan was born..J. Everybody is negative on the Vikings. Even on T-day when honoring John Madden NBC had to reference His Superbowl win over the Vikings lol with a picture to cap it off. Just as CBS did with the hail mary. All that's ancient history, right?
I already posted early on when i 1st joined here. The Vikings are the Cubs of the NFL and the fanbases mirror each other like identically. 1969, 1984, 1989, 2003, yea we won in 2016 but even a long time pessimistic sports journalist summed it up on twitter in one word. " Fixed" I hope that clears it up a little for you. In contrast I'm a big Blackhawks fan. They had bad games, bad playoffs, chokes her and there. But i was never down on them much cuz they still won Championships. Juggernaut of a team really. The only thing that stopped them were the constrictions of the Salary cap.

Why is it important to you that we know this? Say you're right ... are fans so fragile they couldn't possibly handle being wrong about their favorite team ... again?
Your favorite team is 9-2 and somehow the glass is still half empty. That's why it feels like trolling. Of course fans of a team that is 9-2 are high on their team. You're going to find conflict if you come in and argue that they're overrated.

Re: If O'Connell wins a Superbowl
Some people like to nitpick, dissect, analize every aspect of a team. Just as some people who are passionate about movies. Like some people cant bring themselves to watch action movies because they're too unrealistic. They prefer Drama where they can critique and be critical of the acting, the plot, etc... You just want everybody to thinkthe same here? like minded , hive minded people. lol Like everybody better board the purple wagon or else?Cliff wrote: ↑Wed Nov 30, 2022 10:17 amI'm beginning to wonder that myself.J. Have some insight on your query of the lions and their history. I think it's fairly easy to win a Championship in this era of sports. You just need all in from the top down. Management brings in the talent, coaches mold the talent, the talent executes. Course there's a certain amount of luck involved like avoiding injuries and such. If the commitment is there they'll win. When it comes to the lions the commitment hasn't been there. Because maybe Detroit is known as Hockeytown The Redwings are Detroit. Despite being in a lull now. They've still been a great organization. No one really seems to care about the lions. So why bother?

Re: If O'Connell wins a Superbowl
I couldn't stop trembling after the Vikngs beat the bills, cliff. But as i posted when i 1st joined i'm still waiting on that total annihilation of an opponent at the hands of the Vikings. Thought it was gonna happen against the Bears but everything came to a screeching halt after they jumped out big on em. I settle for a convincing win against the Jets. When the offense does surgery on the Jets defense. Then the Defense clamps down on an inept Jets offense. The game is decided for once before the final horn. That'll go a long way with me. I'm just sharing what was shared with me thru the years. so unappreciated, jeez.Cliff wrote: ↑Wed Nov 30, 2022 5:31 pmYou think Vikings fans are over-rating the Vikings. Ok. So?
