Yes he did make it and was a clutch kick. He also helped with the tackle on his duffed KO.
I just hope he gets into a can't miss zone mentally. We will need him again.
Clutch KIck? More like a routine field goal attempt. If it was a 55 yarder or, even 45 yards on this day i would say ok, clutch!!! The Pat after Ham's TD was more a clutch situation. Can't miss that kick, HUGE miss. 4 point deficit instead of 3. Then translates into a 3 point lead instead of 4 point. Guy gets paid to make field goals/xtra points and kick deep. I've been tryin to pull for the guy but, he makes me nauseous. On that KO return it looked like he was a personal escort for the return guy. lol didn't even dive.
It was a routine FG and a clutch kick at the same time. Many short FGs have been missed in clutch situations. The missed XP was a choke. The game winning FG in OT was clutch.

Jegs wrote: Mon Nov 14, 2022 5:00 pm Hello everybody, new to the board as of today and I think I've found a home! Firstly, I've browsed message boards in the past without much interest until I found this one, the conversation and knowledge of football is about the best I've seen! Of course it's an 8-1 season but I'm not a fair weather fan, I have pretty much been a fan since I was on my hands and knees crying in front of the TV after a missed Fred Cox fieldgoal

I think I was 9-10 at the time and I can still remember it!

I am huge fan of the game, I could do without all the hype and glitz but I played football in my younger days and I've always loved the game. :govikes:

Anyway enough about me, I don't think I can say anything about that game that hasn't been said already. Absolute blast of a game to watch, never yelled at the TV once, just kept watching, until the 44 second mark of the 4th. What a riot, my wife and went out to do chores (have critters, live in the country) and when we came back in I shouted, "uhhh, hon, come here"! after looking at the TV and seeing 30-30 beginning of OT. What a game, my father has been a Vikes fan since I can remember and I give him credit that he's made it to 80 years old watching this team all these years!

I hope everybody that's been watching them that long gets to see a championship! :appl: Go Vikes!
Welcome to the board.

Pondering Her Percy wrote: Mon Nov 14, 2022 10:39 am I can honestly say, if you're "not sold" on this team after that win, spare us and take a break from the board.

The Vikings....
-are 8-1 and have won 7 straight
-have a QB that has been the most clutch 4th quarter QB in the NFL this year
-have an immense amount of talent all over this roster (something I've been saying for quite some time) including the best WR in the NFL, top 5-10 RB in the NFL, top 5 TE, top 3 LT in the NFL, top 5 safety in the NFL and the #1 pass rushing duo in the NFL.
-have a defense that is making big play after big play each week and steadily improving
-have a coach that has completely changed the culture here and has this team playing as one complete unit game in and game out
-have an aggressive GM that is willing to go out and improve this roster by any means necessary
-just knocked off the #1 Super Bowl contender in the NFL ON THE ROAD in one of the most hostile environments in football to get their 7th win in a row

....and so on.

What more does this team need to do to "sell" someone? Like give me a break. A near perfect record, beat arguably the best team in the NFL, have won 7 straight and fans arent "sold"? Like are there weaknesses? Yeah. But the Bills were considered the #1 SB favorite league wide as well as Vegas and do they have weaknesses? Clearly. I get it, the heartbreak the Vikings have given fans is extreme. But there's something different about this team and this culture. That is clear and obvious at this point. Like I said, if you arent sold, spare us because the majority of fans are sold and we are going to continue to praise what's going on.
Why would one not be sold on the vikings at this point? For starters, there's still a long way to go. ( not gonna say anything to jinx) just still a long way to go. Let's provide you with some some brief stats now.

Super Bowls: 0-4 Not 1 competitive game in 4 losses
Conference championships: 4-6 6 consecutive losses 3 heartbreakers and 3 blowouts.
Team History is mired in bad luck/misfortune. Examples: 3- 1 Vs. Saints in post season. Yep! that 1 loss looms larger because it was for a trip to the super bowl. To make matters worse, Vikings were the better team that game.
The Vikings have never beaten the Eagles in the post season. Smoked on numerous occasions. Like i said, just brief stats for you. There's more, a lot more lol but i ain't got all day.

Vikings have provided a lot of fantastic memories over the years too. The majority of those occurred over the regular season however..

Look, I like what i see this year. I'm on the wagon. Vikes are fun to watch. 8-1 Huge win yesterday!!!! Still a long way to go.

The Vikings are the Cubs of the NFL. Viking fans are very much like Cub fans, believe it or not.
What does sold mean to you. If it means you have zero doubt that we will win the SB than nope you shouldn't be sold. If it means you believe we have a good team that could win the SB IMO you should be sold. If it means you think we have a good team that can win on any given Sunday I believe that has been proven beyond all doubt.

PHP is probably my best friend on the board. I called him out for going too far with Fiestavike. However, I do agree with him that Fiestavike should be sold that the Vikings are a good team this year. 8-1 does not happen by accident.

While the comeback from 17 down was great, the bigger shock to me was the fumbled snap in the end-zone to score a then go-ahead touchdown with under a minute in the 4th. Those kind of plays truly do not happen 99 out of 100 times.

Didn't we all think the game was pretty much over when Cousins was stuffed at 4th and goal? I did.

Literally had to pick my jaw up off the floor that the ensuing snap got botched. I don't recall feeling anything like that since the Minneapolis Miracle play.
I was just hoping for a safety, which would have given us a shot to win the game. The fumble and TD never even entered my thoughts... until it happened. Credit to the O-line, Kendricks and Harry diving into the pile to shake things up.
That's what I was hoping for and I actually believed we were going to get it. I'll take the fumble recovery for a TD though.

a team drives down on their opening drive. Stalls, winds up kicking a 56 yard field goal to open the scoring. Is that a clutch field goal? There's a decent amount of uncertainty on making that kick, right?. Don't care if it's Prater, Crosby, Blair Walsh kicking..
If either one of the named kickers makes it? It's clutch If the attempt fails. well we tried.

Same scenario except a 33 yard field goal to open the scoring. Make the kick , good job. If you miss that kick? You're expected to make those kicks regardless of the place, time of game, field conditions weather etc.. If you don't, you get cut.

Yes kicks get missed, passes get missed, passes get dropped, tackles get missed, punts get shanked. . Nobody/s perfect but, you have to be competent consistent, reliable, and accountable.. Or you're out of a job.

That's that ! It's been your pleasure

I was just wondering why a forum poster was letting another poster ruin his forum experience. Get a thicker internet skin guy.
But, Just because Fiesta see's things differently doesn't mean you should be bothered by that either. why can't he express his opinion? and you and ur boy accept that? FiestaVike is a bit skeptical. So what? You said Fiestavike should be sold that the Vikings are a good team. Why does he owe you and PHP that? Just to appease you? Yes 8-1 is pretty damn good feat. 7 straight wins in the NFL is a even better feat. Things are pretty special right now. But simply put : Some people have to see it to believe it. Some people need more proof.Cuz some people are still sayin Cousins only wins 1 o'clock games. He can't win the 3 o' clock. 7 o'clock prime time nationally televised games. lol Do those skeptics owe you and PHP an apology or concession too? FYI nobody owes you anything.

That's that! It's been your pleasure

Hey just curious if anybody else called it. If I remember correctly that first interception thrown to Peterson was a 4th down that Buffalo decided to go for. One of the PBP guys questioned it and I agreed, thought it was an awfully ballsy, overconfident play to call. I said to my wife, "if they screw this up I'd hate to be the Bills coach" sure enough look what happened! I've seen too many times where a team will take a less than conservative approach in a situation like that and pay dearly for it.

This time it not only cost Buffalo points on the board but was a big factor in the win I believe. This years club is seriously intriguing, they can be down 2 possessions with 5 left in the 4th and the opposing team can't relax one bit. Enjoying this ride! :smilevike:

I'll take the version of Plunkett that ends with 2 SB in 4 seasons.
(he's my grandmothers 1st cousin)

Welcome to the board Jegs!

EDIT: I see Kapp already detailed this a few post ago (skimming guilty) : |.
Should of known he'd beat me to it. :D

On the missed XP, I was listening on the radio at the time (so I didn't see it, I was bouncing between TV and radio due to other crap). Paul Allen put a lot of the blame on the coaches/execution/Bradbury running out late to fill in for Darrisaw who had gone out earlier. He was conveying that they were looking around for a lineman, Bradbury ran out late, they rushed the entire kick process, and that Joseph's step sequence got thrown off. While yes, it's an XP, make the damn XP, if all that is accurate then it's a failure by the entire unit. Come on, it's an XP, execute.

And yeah, the missed XP did make a significant appearance at the end of regulation. However moot in the big picture.

Seriously?! That's awsome! Have you um met him? lol Joe Has missed the most extra points in the league. He's made 21 out a 25. 72% conversion on field goals 13/18. meh. Needs improvement.

When you can provide me a list of people I’ve “driven away from the board” I’ll listen. Beating the bills on the road is about as convincing as you can get. I’m not sure what’s to argue. Because you notice weaknesses? Tell me a team that doesn’t have any. It’s just no matter what, somebody has to be a downer. Like we’re all excited on here after a big win, and here comes the downer. Like can’t anyone just enjoy beating arguably the best team in football on the road? Like what is the expectation at this point in the season? 9-0 and 20 point wins every game? Sorry you didn’t like my comment. Didn’t intend for it to ruin your day. But good god can we just enjoy a win without someone complaining? Is that a possibility?

I’m young? Do we know each other? I’ve been on the board for 10 years and am 33 years old. And I’ve seen 10 years of constant negativity on here. Which hey, we haven’t won a SB so some is expected. But a CONVINCING win like this should be nothing but fun on here. The Vikings are 8-1. But there just always has to be a downer. Guess it gets tiring when you’ve seen it for 10 years on here.
