Week 3: Lions @ Vikings predictions
Just saw that Harrison Smith and A. Booth Jr. are OUT, Kendricks is questionable. Harry is dealing with a concussion, apparently. Cine and Mettellus are going to alternate to fill his spot (why hasn't Cine locked down this spot?!)
I know everyone (including Vegas) is predicting a bounce back game... but these are not yesterdays Lions. They have put up some solid numbers on Offense. It isn't a slam dunk in my eyes, and is likely to be a shoot out. Can this offense score enough points to keep up? Swift is a beast at RB and Williams is tough in goal line situations. They have some solid WRs... I think our D is about to get a good test.
I think we squeak one out, 38-35.

Re: Week 3: Lions @ Vikings predictions
The Lions numbers indicate that their offensive success is a bit of a fluke. They struggle at sustaining drives, near the bottom in NFL in 3 and outs per drive, TOP and plays per drive, but are near the top in points scored. That means they have thrived on the big play, and if we can take those away they should struggle to score. They also have one of the worst Olines in the NFL, grading out significantly worse than the Vikings according to PFF.
Those are the positives. On the negative side of things, DVOA thinks they are the 2nd best running team in the NFL, and the Vikings are the 2nd worst at stopping the run. PFF believes their receivers are better than ours overall, and that they have a better secondary.
Overall, this one looks like a Vikings win. They are at home and the Lions, well improved, have a lousy defense and are the Lions.

Home field advantage in the NFL is killer.
The offense will bounce back in a big way.
Swift is very good but is a little banged up. They have a few key components who are also banged up. St. Brown is a stud-he worries me most, especially with Harry out.
Vikings 33-24

Vikings 33-24

I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.

One win doesn't negate the "Same old Lions." I almost believe in my Lions' coaching staff, but I'm not quite there yet. We will see how this goes. Ya'll could win this easily, who knows.

Re: Week 3: Lions @ Vikings predictions
I didnt see anything in the Eagles game that makes me think this is a sure win. The Lions Oline made some HUGE holes in a D that KO decided to only try Cook 8 times. Thats some really poor coaching. And a bonehead move by the HC with that TO. Not impressed with the new regime at all, thus far.
The D also could stop the passing attack of a run first QB. Thats pretty sad too.
24-21 Lions

Right backatcha.
Re: Week 3: Lions @ Vikings predictions
Hmm well, I think the Lions have a 1/3 shot at winning. What does same old Vikings even mean? You realize that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have won our division more recently than my Lions have. Same old Vikings would presumably mean decent win percentage but coming short. Well, same old Lions is a bit uh... eh... I don't even want to say it.

Re: Week 3: Lions @ Vikings predictions
There is only one place, according to PFF, where one team has a significant advantage over the other — our offensive line vs. Detroit’s defensive line and front seven. Detroit’s highest-rated player along the D-line is DT Isaiah Buggs, and at 62.0, he barely edges out our worst O-lineman, center Garrett Bradbury at 60.8.
With that in mind, I think the Vikings need to revert to Zimmer ball just a bit. Philly ran the ball at will against this front seven. Washington gained only 88 yards, but part of that is because they fell behind 22-0 and never really tried to establish the run after that. Detroit is definitely vulnerable against the run, even more vulnerable than the Vikings. Get Dalvin Cook going on the ground, and Kirk can utilize play action, at which he excels.
With the way Detroit can run the ball, the Vikings can’t afford to get into an early deficit, like they did against Philly. Detroit has yet to play a road game, so Vikings fans — get your roar on. Let’s grab the early lead, then build on it and let our crowd affect the game.

Re: Week 3: Lions @ Vikings predictions
This game feels big. Detroit has been gaining ground recently. My biggest worry is can we score enough points to keep up with Detroit's offense? Our D is lacking key players and looked lost against Philly.
Re: Week 3: Lions @ Vikings predictions
Even though it’s the Lions. 24-17 Vikings
Does anyone have a no cost live steam game sight to share.
Thank

Well, in fairness, they Looked lost in the first half.Texas Vike wrote: ↑Sat Sep 24, 2022 6:26 am This game feels big. Detroit has been gaining ground recently. In the second half, they gave up a little over 100 yards and 0 points.
The offense lost the Philly game. Three red zone interceptions. Plenty of chances to come back.

Go ahead. I dare you.

Wish I could watch it. For me it’s the red zone and Sirius /XM.
Sirius I guess I got smart. They had a deal. They did away with pretty quick. A one time 500 dollar payment for lifetime membership. This was 15-20 yrs ago. Paid for itself. But if this radio putts out that ends. So I will have my headsets on. Until the Vikings/Lions get into the red zone...
Enjoy the game

I don't like this team at all the coach is in over his head imo.
31-14 Detroit rolls. I see a 5-12 season ahead.

Re: Week 3: Lions @ Vikings predictions
Our inability to make any adjustments on both sides of the ball was mind blowing. We stayed in that stupid shell D the entire game. Lol It was candy from a baby.VikingsFan84 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 25, 2022 10:24 amBased on 1 game?MichaelRay82 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 25, 2022 8:58 am I don't like this team at all the coach is in over his head imo.
