Re: Vikings @ Chargers pre game
First off injuries for us: LB Anthony Barr (knee), DL Michael Pierce (elbow) OUT; DB Bashaud Breeland (groin) QUESTIONABLE.
The Chargers have the worst run defense in the league, allowing 161.6 yards per game. The Vikings are 30th at 136.6. Zim and Kubsteak will concentrate on getting Cook rolling and burning the clock up. Don't look for a Jefferson bomb. 2nd year QB Herbert has been up and down. Last week 123 rating. Didn't even break 70 the previous 2 weeks. Don't get much worse than that. Basically a flip of the coin. Either worthless or great. Based on how Jackson blew us up, who sucked again on Thursday, Herbert could have a big game. They don't have a back or mobile QB so 200 yards rushing won't happen. On our side Cpt checkdown will do the same old and look decent for the scripted plays and then nothing will happen. Bunch of 3 and outs with Holder Udoh contributing a couple penalties which will kill a few drives. Kubesteak will bang Cook and throw some dump offs to Ham. A late 2nd QTR drive with Cook doing the damage which will stall at the 2 yard line for a punch shot FG and 10-7 lead.
Not much will happen the 2nd half as we burn the time with Cook while Herbert struggles. We'll make 1 of 2 FGs for a 13-7 lead. Herbert will come to life and march the Charges on their last drive 96 yards for a 14-13 lead. The ball will be ours with about 50 seconds left and 3 timeouts to get into FG range. We will march the ball with Theilen making a good catch over the middle for a key 1st down but Cousins will stare at the sideline waiting for the play call as the clock ticks down and then Zim will finally wake up and call a timeout with 2 seconds left. Our kicker will be sent in for a 35 yarder. The Chargers will try and freeze our kicker with a timeout. Then Zim will get confused and call back to back timeouts again and at this point our kicker is frozen solid and is expecting a Charger timeout so he can loosen up but they make him kick and of course he blocks the kick right and it misses by about 10 feet. Solid block right for the game winner attempt. Cpt checkdown keeps his loser title and of course Zim states he won't cut his kicker and it was his fault for calling back to back time outs which iced him. I think all this happened one or two times already this year.

Chargers will most likely obliterate us. I hope they do. The season is lost and a win prolongs Zimmer's tenure.

That could happen. West coast trips are never easy. They have the better overall team but as always it will come down to how their QB plays. Like most of them he has had some very good games and some games where your better off putting someone else in. Sound familiar. If he sucks then it will be a close game. If he gets hot we don't have a chance. One thing in our favor is they don't have much at RB. If they did they could just pound the ball down our throat for a few hundred yards and be done with it.Maelstrom88 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 13, 2021 1:01 pm Chargers will most likely obliterate us. Another thing working against the Vikings this week, besides not being very good - they just had an overtime game on the east coast, now they have to turn around and play a game on the west coast. You can look at what Baltimore did on Thursday as an indication that maybe that game wore both teams out. Vikings do have 3 more days of recovery time, maybe that's enough.Maelstrom88 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 13, 2021 1:01 pm Chargers will most likely obliterate us. I hope they do. You could be correct with that. On the other hand the Ravens played like crap the game before they played us and were blown out. They have a good record it's there in front of us but it could easily be the complete opposite. They never really go in and take a game over from start to finish. Their FG kicker is fantastic and that helps. He's the reason they beat the Lions. No other kicker was making that kick. They're a playoff team I guess but they won't last long. I don't think they are much better than us and we aren't that good.cogitator wrote: ↑Sat Nov 13, 2021 7:01 pmAnother thing working against the Vikings this week, besides not being very good - they just had an overtime game on the east coast, now they have to turn around and play a game on the west coast. Re: Vikings @ Chargers pre game
I will be surprised if Vikings win today
Re: Vikings @ Chargers pre game
Vikings will win today because no one expects them to.
Re: Vikings @ Chargers pre game
I can’t wait to see how we blow the game today.
Re: Vikings @ Chargers pre game
We should just tank the rest of the way.

That better be a completion to Jefferson.
EDIT: The officials actually got it right and declared it a completion.

Re: Vikings @ Chargers pre game
So much for the thought that Herbert is a better QB than Cousins. Maybe in a few years when he learns how to play better. Go Vikings. SKOL.
Today Zimmer was plenty aggressive. Going for it on 4th down was the right call and Zimmer made that call.

That 4th down was shocker. Packers next week. They made Wilson look very bad.VikingsVictorious wrote: ↑Sun Nov 14, 2021 7:17 pm So much for the thought that Herbert is a better QB than Cousins. Maybe in a few years when he learns how to play better. Go Vikings. SKOL.
