I do not see anywhere that DePaola has been releasedJ. It concerns me because there’s a chemistry and timing between the three that is needed on FGs and XPs. If the Vikings bring in a different long snapper, as some in the media are speculating, and Greg Joseph suddenly starts missing kicks, it would mean that Mike Zimmer will has once again screwed up the kicking game.Pondering Her Percy wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 10:22 pm
Agreed. I think DePaola could be another one they take back. I’m confident with Griff simply because not only do we need him but Griff doesn’t wanna be anywhere else but here. He knows that whatever gas he has left in the tank, Zim will maximize that. I think it’s more that Zim and Spielman aren’t worried at all that he will go anywhere and probably had a talk with him and in turn they are going to use him as a chess piece
Strange as it sounds, I’m really hoping they bring DePaola back.

He was, but it was just procedural. No team is going to switch long snappers at this point in the season so the Vikings knew they were safe cutting him while they hold onto guys they want to get to the practice squad.RandyMoss84 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 01, 2021 7:17 amI do not see anywhere that DePaola has been releasedJ. They can actually keep him on the PS and activate him on game days.StumpHunter wrote: ↑Wed Sep 01, 2021 7:27 amHe was, but it was just procedural. They can only do that twice, and why would they anyway, they need him every game, might as well have him on the active roster.VikingsVictorious wrote: ↑Wed Sep 01, 2021 10:32 amThey can actually keep him on the PS and activate him on game days.StumpHunter wrote: ↑Wed Sep 01, 2021 7:27 am

Griffen, Abdullah, and DePaola were released so they can hang on to Irv Smith, Nwangwu, and Darrisaw until they can put them on IR-DTR. You cannot do that on cut day, so you cut vested veterans who are not subject to waivers, tell them to hold tight, and once you make your corresponding IR moves, you re-sign them.

Re: Vikings cuts:
We did it last year. Even if it's only 2 times you can do it it's a smart way to hang on to another player until all the dust settles.TheCoolerOne wrote: ↑Wed Sep 01, 2021 10:47 amThey can only do that twice, and why would they anyway, they need him every game, might as well have him on the active roster.VikingsVictorious wrote: ↑Wed Sep 01, 2021 10:32 am
