It may be that Covid was naturally occurring, that it was being tinkered with in a lab and some doofus infected himself with it and brought it out for the whole world to enjoy, or that it was shipped over here intentionally in vaping oil. None of that matters all that much at this point. We're going to be living with covid from here on out.
If the only focus is football, including the protocols set up by the NFL, players would be wise to get vaccinated. That's not my only focus, but maybe it would be if I were an NFL player. I don't really care if the players get vaccinated or not.
The amount of bad and unreliable information circulating out there is hard to fathom.
We've had a lot of folks come down with covid recently in my circle, vaccinated and not. So far, all are fine, though one older guy was hospitalized for a time. I don't know whether he was vaccinated or not. I don't care. I'm just glad he's doing better.
It's time to face the fact that it's not going anywhere and to stop politicizing it. As far as a strategic, football related thing, there is certainly reason to get it, but I also know a lot of people who know a lot more about it than I do, and who are urging caution. Some people are going to get it, some aren't. Maybe those who aren't will be forced to get it through political or economic pressure, maybe not. If the goal is to 'eliminate covid', it won't matter. That's not gonna happen.
We're going to be living with covid from here on out. I think you have that correct. There was never a vaccine for 2003 SARS even though many years and funding was thrown at it. That to me is a concern is how this vaccine happened in basically a snap of the finger. I'm sure many have the same concern. It is what it is at this point and the world will be dealing with it forever. The protocols, the vaccine, the treatment will be changing as we go forward.
Please, please, look at the actual research that went into this. Researchers have been working on mRNA for over a decade as a means to vaccinate. Some of that went into Ebola research. As for the 2003 Sars, it never turned out to be easily spread, and as you might have noticed, never became a significant problem. The accelerated research was a matter of utilizing concurrent testing models, no steps were skipped. Urgency prompted the accelerated methodology. The study groups were robust, and information was very transparent. More so than generally made available to the public in trial situations. In the US we have now have had over 100 MILLION doses given. You can count the deaths attributed to the vaccines on one hand. There have been rare inflammatory issues, primarily resulting in lower level, reversible heart failure. Again, that is a tiny, miniscule number. It is anticipated Pfizer will have full FDA approval around Labor Day.
Treatment has evolved, but for those who require ICU stays it is labor intensive, one to one care ratios. If enough people get vaccinated the need for modification to the current vaccines will be greatly reduced. That will also greatly reduce the breeding ground for variants. Some of which may be worse than what we are currently dealing with.
Right now, regardless of new advances THE ONE REASON COVID IS CONTINUALLY ONE STEP AHEAD OF US IS THE UNVACCINATED.
