The problem with winning the Super Bowl is that everybody wants raises.VikingTom wrote: ↑Tue Jul 27, 2021 9:13 amYes there will be teams with significant cap advantages, there always are some in that position every year. That does not necessarily translate into the Vikings being unable to retain the players on one year contracts they like.
Their cap space at the moment may look much different when FA opens next year. I agree it currently seems tight, we will just have to wait and see how things play out after the Vikings win the SB.![]()

Looking at it a little closer the most likely options seem to be extend Cousins again to kick his cap hit down the road, extend/restructure Kendricks, extend/restructure Thielen, or cut Hunter. They could also cut Pierce if he can't stay healthy, word is he'll be ready for the season but the guy has been here two years and hasn't made it out of training camp yet (I know last year was an opt out but he's known to have issues staying in shape).VikingTom wrote: ↑Tue Jul 27, 2021 9:13 amYes there will be teams with significant cap advantages, there always are some in that position every year. Like they say, where there's a will there's a way, but it will come with potentially tough choices.

Vikings are going to blow it up after this year if it doesn't work out and start building a younger team for Mond to take over in two years.RandyMoss84 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 26, 2021 8:39 amIf they prove it then Vikings will be giving them long term extensionsS197 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 25, 2021 7:33 pm WR3/punt returner for the price is a good signing. If he can’t perform at pre-injury levels, no biggie, just a 1 year deal.
With so many players on “prove it” deals, it will be interesting to see what happens for those that actually do prove it. Smith, Woods, Peterson, Barr, Richardson, Westbrook, Alexander, Breeland, O’Neil… it’s a really long list.
"You like that!"

If they were to actually win the Superbowl I could care less if everyone leaves the following year because then I can die in peace...VikingsVictorious wrote: ↑Tue Jul 27, 2021 10:14 amThe problem with winning the Super Bowl is that everybody wants raises.VikingTom wrote: ↑Tue Jul 27, 2021 9:13 am

Absolutely. They win it all, they can bring back Josh Freeman to throw to Troy Williamson for all I care. Just one before I die!VikingLord wrote: ↑Wed Jul 28, 2021 6:16 pmIf they were to actually win the Superbowl I could care less if everyone leaves the following year because then I can die in peace...VikingsVictorious wrote: ↑Tue Jul 27, 2021 10:14 am

Having followed the team since their inception I have been let down many times. Which brings me to the old joke of I am going to have the Vikings as my pall bearers so they can let me down one last time.S197 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 28, 2021 6:55 pmAbsolutely. I never in my worst nightmares thought the Vikings would still be missing a SB win. The 69 team seemed destined, there were some very good teams in the 70s. Burns damn near got them there regardless of Mike Lynn. (Don't get me started on that)
Speaking of teams seeming destined there was the crushing disappointment in 98.
I am with ya guys, a SB win is all that matters. Please God before I die.
