It all depends on how these guys work out, but if I were a Jets fan I wouldn't be happy with that trade. A good starting guard is not worth a 1st and 2 3rds.

If I was a Jet fan I would probably feel we got the best G and we also have our future made with the No 2 pick. At least they are trying to give the kid some protection. The kid is in a tough spot. Don't you think it's worth over paying to help the kid out? Or do you go with a Dru Samia type that can't block anything and the kid is harassed every play or killed. Yes you can get a HOF G in round 3 but as a hole the player selected in the mid 1st round should be better. 1st round pick position are not equal. Pick 1 vs pick 14 isn't close to the same value. The Bengals are in the process of getting guys to protect there investment. Might be to late.

We have no way of knowing for sure, but the Jets could have very likely got AVT at 23 and kept the 2 third rounders picking Wyatt Davis with one of them and whatever else they needed with the other.

Check the Vikings all time record. We have actually been a quite successful franchise. Just haven't won that stupid super bowl thingy.

I posted long ago that Zim has a good HC record with us. He hit a break one year with Rodgers out and he took us to the champ game with a backup QB. That's a solid season no matter how it's sliced. I think Speilman has done a solid job. The guy don't sit still and works to get things done. He did great getting Cousins. At least he gives our team a better long term chance than anything we have had since Fran. Sure Farve was magical but he's also a HOF player. Cousins won't sniff the HOF. But we are still behind an MVP guy in our division that will make the HOF which means it's a big need just to get even. And Rodgers is like Brady getting better with age. Hard to believe but maybe the rule changes toward passing game has made that possible. D players are afraid to touch a QB in the pocket anymore. If you breath on a guy you'll get flagged. Older days players got after them with no worries. To many worries in the NFL about protecting QBs in the pocket. Which I think is a good thing. QB puts people in the seats and watching their screens. That's money in everybody's pocket. Obviously there's more to it but these guys are playing beyond anything I thought was possible. The reason might be there sport drink or something like that. I have no idea. The Bucs picked a dev guy to get him ready for the eventual. Or as a trade guy. Smart move even though they have a Super Bowl QB.

Bottom line I don't look at the Vikings history as being 50 years of failure. I think there was some great success along the way. Just didn't win that Super Bowl thingy.

One thing I will say, is that there were rumors saying Paton was the big "trade down for the late rounders" guy. Maybe that proved to be true. I was pretty shocked that Spielman didnt budge from a single pick after round 1.

Rick was mentioning how this wasn't a very deep draft. The number of players in the draft were hundreds less than normal and there were a lot of 4th round compensatory picks. Sounded like he wanted to stay in front of those.

Right and I dont think you're wrong. But if you look at Denver's draft. They traded quite a few times. I think that rumor ended up being true that Paton was the guy that was more geared towards loading up on later picks than Spielman. His draft day trade call video just went viral as well. Pretty funny to be honest.
