I'm with you, Kapp. I don't know that we'll be able to out tank the Jets simply because Rick/Zim won't allow us to purposely lose, but a blowout loss next Sunday @ GB and we'll officially be in dumpster fire territory.

And it won't be because of injuries. Having Anthony Barr all season doesn't make us a 4-2 team. It'll be because the front office didn't build a competitive roster this season and Zim couldn't coach up the guys to be competitive.
Hard to coach up backups and rookies to be competitive.
We're literally only starting 1 rookie (Dantlzer) and 1 back-up (Wilson) on defense. And Wilson has been here for 4 years with plenty of playing time under his belt.

In fairness we are starting Gladney too. My issue is why are we in this predicament. Why did the FO think this was an ok roster to go into the season. Play dumb games... win dumb prizes.

Johnson, Wilson, Odenigbo, and Stephen are rotational guys at best and are starting because of injuries or Covid. Those 4 plus the 2 rookie corners make up over half the defense. Kendricks, Smith, Ngakoue and Harris are the the only 4 players that any team would want starting for them. The rest would compete for backup spots on any good team, and would only start on bad teams like the Jets, Jaguars and Vikings.

You are acting like some of the guys above these guys are world beaters. Wilson can't be a back up and a starter at the same position. Stephen is a "starter" he was one last year too. Barr is okay at best and shouldn't be on our roster. Your only argument is Peirce (who has yet to play a down for us) and Hunter. The FO drafted / signed these guys that are playing now.

Exactly. We lost Barr and Pierce. The rest of the roster is as planned. And they brought in Nkoguoe thinking they'd be competitive. You don't go from a contender to a bottom 3 team just because you lost Barr and Pierce - we were always going to be a bottom-dweller this year and the leadership not only didn't see it - they doubled down on it with extensions!

They also lost their best player on defense...

Going into this season, prior to the injuries and opt outs I thought the roster was a below .500 roster, which is why I want Spielman gone. With the injuries this defensive roster is one of the worst in the NFL. I don't know how anyone could argue otherwise.

This is going to be one tough year to watch. Might be followed by a year or two of the same ilk. Going to be tough sledding as a Viking fan. May be tough being worse than the Lions

I wouldn't "argue otherwise", but I would point out it takes a GM/coaching staff combination to put a good, "developed to their potential" product out on the field.

I am sure we just have a toxic combination of Rick and Zim+staff, which at the end of the day results in an inconsistent and mediocre (or worse) product on the field year after year. I can't point to any great QB talent that Zim has screwed up (our QB situation is 99% on Rick), but I can also point to a fiasco situation at DB over the past several years where IMO our coaches wasted a lot of talent (99% on Zim+staff).

I think at this point it doesn't matter who is to blame more or less than the other. They both need to go, as soon as practically possible. They simply are not good together.

Unless and until the Wilf clan sees that, we as fans are stuck. Heck I've only been a fan for 55 years now, so I'm used to it. My saving grace is that I really like the young guys on this team, which is a nod to Rick, but IMO our current coaches won't help them develop fully.

My biggest fear is Rick and Rob have already presented their "18 month" plan to get out of/on top of our QB situation, with Zim nodding in the back of the room, and the Wilfs have bought it.

on a positive.....
We didn't lose this week !

I cannot wait for the firing or retiring of Zimmer and especially Spielman.
It will be the best thing to happen to the Vikings !

I honestly have nothing positive to say about this current regime... Nothing

Purple KoolAid, if you drink it, tastes like a blend of vomit and LSD.......

Management has been inept and delusional for a looong time.....SPielman believes the OL is an after thought that can be staffed by cast offs and has beens....

Spielman has NO ability to identify QB talent. AND the crap QBs he invests in, he OVER invests in.

Who was our last top tier QB (not counting Favre who, as a near has-been cast off from GB was the BEST QB we have sniffed in MN in decades)? Pretty damn sad list you have to go through...

Zim is NOT a quality Coach, he is an old Defensive Coordinator.

All this mediocrity has been pretty damn obvious to everyone who hasnt slurped the above described beverage.....Z Wilf just doesnt care. He got his nice shiny stadium, it doesnt matter what kind of team plays inside of it.

I have been a Cubs Fan and a Vikes Fan for 50 Years, this is the WORST I have ever felt about my Vikes. I barely get motivated to watch their games anymore. Its disgusting and hopeless. WATCH, Wilf will allow SPielman to preside over a "rebuild".....that will suck.

The Vikes are a business to the Wilf family. They are Giant fans. He has a new stadium that sells out. Speilman will get the credit for that. If our team was bad enough to be drawing 40,000 fans then Speilman would be out. Last year we were in the playoffs and won a road playoff game. It's not a SB championship, only one team gets that a year, but it was a solid season by any measure. I don't see Speilman going anywhere until the stadium can't fill up or he retires.

Our bad roster is the result of constantly trading down for lesser talent, and more of it. All of those trade downs has resulted in a massive dropoff in talent from the starters to backups.

I absolutely hate this philosophy. I prefer building a roster with better talent. Trading up. Keeping returning players and adding fewer but more talented players.
Sure, trading down has its benefits and a lot of the time can beneficial, but not ALL OF THE TIME !!!!
