However it seems to have worked out very well.
I don't really thing we got good value out of our first round picks.
Rick needs to have an excellent draft and I don't think it's a great start.
It wasn't a good trade based on the chart, but in real life it turned out great. I'm pretty sure we would have picked Gladney at 25 anyway.

The Vikings get one of the best route runners in the draft to replace Stefon Diggs. Jefferson is an A-plus slot receiver but also has experience playing on the outside at LSU. He should be ready to make an immediate contribution as Adam Thielen's running mate on the perimeter.
Mike Zimmer gets a tough, hard-nosed CB with solid instincts and awareness. He has nice movement skills and athleticism, and shows enough versatility to effectively play man and zone coverage on the perimeter.

Zimmer said they were trying to trade up for Jefferson

Gladney worries me so much. He’s undersized, character concerns, knee problems. His metrics are even bad, look at this 3 cone:

I am glad Vikings did not trade up for Jefferson

What character concerns does Gladney have?

That is amazing. We stood pat and got the player we wanted at 22 and then traded back and got the player we wanted at 31.

Neve Gillimore or Antonie Winfield
I'd add Madubuike to that list. I will not be mad if the Vikings use some draft capital to move up and get winfield early, though I'm not sure they are going to be able to find a trade partner to take Anthony Harris.

Browns could, they need a safety bad and is interested in Harris

Ya, but they pick 9th tomorrow, and there are 5 or 6 safeties currently on the board, who can be had for peanuts compared to Harris.

If they'd take a 4th round pick, maybe it gets done, more likely a 5th or 6th. Doubt the Browns give up more than that.

Maybe harris would be enough to get them to swap 2nd round picks, and we could scoop up Winfield if he's still available there?

Well if we are now big players in the Williams deal, I would leave out Josh Jones and Ezra Cleveland. All depends on if we make a move there or not. However, we could take either of those guys and move them to guard. Other tackles that we could move would be:

Josh Jones
Ezra Cleveland
Robert Hunt
Lucas Niang
Prince Tego Wanagho
Ben Bartch
Shaadiq Charles

Still a ton of good CBs out that I would take:

Kristian Fulton
Jaylon Johnson
Trevon Diggs
Amik Robertson
Bryce Hall
Cameron Dantzler

A single guard has yet to go. I mentioned a few weeks ago we will have the pick of the litter in these rounds at guard. Some I'd like to target:

Lloyd Cushenberry
Jonah Jackson
John Simpson
Tyre Phillips
Damien Lewis
Shane Lemieux
Kevin Dotson
Hakeem Adeniji
Netane Muti
Cameron Clarke
Ben Bredeson
Logan Stenberg
John Runyan

Tons of talent at DT:

Ross Blacklock
James Lynch
Jordan Elliott
Raekwon Davis
Justin Madubuike
Neville Gallimore
Davon Hamilton
Khalil Davis

Some at DE:
Yetur Gross-Matos
AJ Epenesa
Marlon Davidson
Julian Okwara

Then you have your wild cards like Winfield Jr., Xavier McKinney. Plus a ton of mid-round WR talent. I'd be happy with just about anyone on this above list. I'm shocked how many options are out there. There were some mega reaches tonight. Terrell was a reach at 16, Arnette was a reach at 19, Love to GB I didnt understand given he struggled in the Mountain West, Jordan Brooks at 27 was a reach and Noah Igbinoghene was a reach at 30

As crazy as it sounds, if someone like Jaylon Johnson or Kristian Fulton was to fall, I'd pull the trigger on another CB.

I’d pull the trigger on Johnson/Fulton too. Tough to ignore that value. Hopefully we don’t see a run on interior line.

There are 2 full more rounds of solid contributors in this draft. I think tomorrow will see the Vikings using some of their late picks to trade up and target particular players in the 2nd or 3rd rounds.

He was also 1st team big 12, led the conference in pass breakups, played on a torn meniscus and ran at the combine with one, plays way bigger than his size, tougher than nails, etc.

There are positives and negatives no matter who you look at. Guys knocked Mattison last year because he was "slow". In turn, it meant nothing.

As for Jefferson, doesnt surprise me we tried to move up. Jefferson going early heated up the last two days and WRs started going fairly quick. Again, Jefferson was #16 on Jeremiahs overall draft board and would've been a guaranteed went to someone like Oakland if those big 3 werent in this draft. Those guys were so highly touted that it caused someone as good as Jefferson to fall.

Harris for Williams could be a possibility if we really wanted to draft a safety.
