I have heard this rumor of hands catcher recently in posts that somebody made. My understanding from the analysts and fans of Notre Dame is that he has great hands and catches everything in his zip code. I will look into it more.
Great hands doesn't mean you aren't a body catcher. I define a body catcher based on what one does when the crunch is on. High-pressure situations. Big 3rd downs etc. He brings a lot of balls in to the chest and secures them there. Even when he jumps up.
OK. I'm pretty hopeful we get Claypool. As long as the passes are completed I don't care if they are stuck in his helmet or squeezed between his legs.

I will be surprised if Vikings do not select Claypool since Speilman loves Notre Dame players, I wish we could find out tomorrow

I don't know anything about this Claypool guy. Why is he designated as a WR/TE some places?

If you've been studying up for the draft you would know all about him. The TE stuff is because he's Megatron sized and a great blocker. IMO that would be a wasted of his advantages as a WR. Here's Chris Simms on Chase.

He talks about the TE possibility in the first of 24 minutes.

The guy talks about somebody named Chris Watt as if he's a slam dunk choice by Spielman. Did Spielman draft him? I don't recall that. I checked. He didn't.
Yes we have more Notre Dame players than any other NFL team. Could that possibly be because they are good more than Spielman being biased. No proof there other than Spielman liking good football players. If we start drafting a Notre Dame player every year than I will start to believe in the bias.

Chase Claypool come on down. :govikes:
Only knock I have on the guy is that he isn't a hand catcher. Lots of body catches but... he is impressive. I wouldn't be made at taking Chase and someone like KJ Hamler.

at 11:36 states Claypool catches everything with his hands. Not calling that proof, but he disagrees with the body catcher thing.

I don't know a whole lot about Claypool except that he abused Iowa State in the Camping World Bowl (I live in Iowa, which is why I actually care -- somewhat -- about Iowa Staate). He's also ran a 4.42 at 6-4, 238, with a 40.5-inch vertical, and he's a beast on special teams coverage.

Can he run routes? Get off press coverage? Set up DBs? Block? No idea. But the measurables are pretty fascinating.

The only player who matches his measurables at his size is Megatron.

I wasn't sure I wanted to sit through a 24-minute video, but I'm glad I did. That was interesting. Thanks!

So you think John Carlson and Robert Blanton is good?

John Carlson is no longer an NFL Football player and I don't believe Robert Blanton is either. IIRC Carlson was quite good for a while and I know little about Blanton. Were either of them Spielman draft picks? When I said they were good I was talking about the Spielman Draft picks from Notre Dame currently on the Minnesota Vikings. You have your right to think he's biased towards Notre Dame players, but if he drafts Claypool in the second round that will simply be smart.

Blanton was a Spielman pick but scratch John Carlson, I forgot Vikings signed him when he was a free agent
