I read it's 7.8 million cap space freed up.
That's fantastic.
That was the early report. Turned out to be only 6 Million.

more clarity on kline....

Chris Tomasson@christomasson
I stand corrected on this. #Vikings cut Josh Kline before the third day of new league year, when his $1.8 million was to be guaranteed for this season. So they carved out $3.369 million of cap room by releasing Kline.

Chris Tomasson@christomasson
Site OvertheCap has adjusted #Vikings salary cap page with clarification Josh Kline didn't get his $1.8 million guarantee for 2020 It lists Vikings as having $13.956 million of cap room with $2.666 million dead money on Kline That's before Rashod Hill deal
It makes a hell of a lot more sense now. Still doesn't sound right, but at least it's excusable.

When it was just 1.8 million, it did not make sense why they wouldn't just let him compete for a starting spot in camp. That extra 1.5 million if they cut him now makes things kind of fall into place.

With this last bit of information, it is clear the Vikings were not impressed with how he played last season, and felt he would not provide 3 million more in value than the next guy up. That COULD be because they really like Samia or Dozier. Let's hope that is the reason.

It was reported as 1.5 million cap savings initially. 3.369 million is a huge increase. You are obviously correct that the Vikings weren't impressed with his play. I don't think anybody was impressed with his play.

This is the first time in a long time I have no idea what the hell the Vikings are doing. A lot of their deals are baffling

The things IMO that were baffling were cutting Kline to save $1.5 Million. That turned out to be bogus. Letting Mac go for 4 million was baffling. Turns out Mac was very disgruntled and we probably couldn't do anything to stop him. Similarly with Kearse.
No other moves they made seemed baffling to me. Extending Cousins was just the typical keeping your franchise QB in place. Letting Waynes go for $14 million was obvious. We couldn't afford to pay Weatherly over 6 million a year. We tried to keep Griffen. We signed Pierce to replace Joseph. Younger, cheaper, and better.

I'm actually pretty happy with the off-season so far. Only thing I don't understand is Kline. I guess they wanted to save money next year? Also maybe they're high on Samia?

I’m pretty happy with it too. I love the Pierce signing. He’s arguably the best two down nose tackle in the nfl right now and the deal we got him on is pretty fair if you ask me.

Given the diggs trade, I’m foaming at the mouth waiting for this draft to get here. I’m going to hopefully be doing a new mock soon. I’m a teacher and business owner so I currently have 5 weeks off from school, possibly more by the sounds of it. I’m still running my business but I have a lot of free time currently. Only downfall is my wife is a teacher as well so she’s home too.....and up my as#

Is anyone else a bit concerned with the number of reportedly "disgruntled" players -Diggs, Mac, Kearse just a few that come to mind. Is this:

1. Just typical of NFL rosters; Vikings have no more or less disgruntled players than the average NFL roster and at least the Vikes letting them walk
2. Indicative of a flaw in screening / analysis of personalities as part of Draft/FA process
3. Indicative of a bigger cultural issue within the organization...a lack of faith in Zimmer or the general direction of the franchise

Thoughts??

Yeah I'd say a lot of it is attrbuted to guys not getting starting jobs tyey feel they deserve due to better players in front of them. Diggs just wanted more passes thrown his way and more praise for his ego. Mac and Jayron want to start. Mac had a decent argument over Rhodes but Zim just won't start short corners outside I guess?

 I can kinda identify. My wife works at the world headquarters of her company that is considered one if the essential need corporations, but their CEO has started using employees in key positions to work remote from home. So she has been working from her home office. I usually have a good 2 1/2 to 3 hrs to myself when I get home before she gets home. Holy crap, when she is done she is stir crazy and missing her interaction with her friends at work , so she has a million things she wants to do and talks and talks and talks lol. Wow what an adjustment.
But she is home safe and healthy and still able to work, so I can deal with it.
I just wanna die as a Super Bowl Champion Viking Fan!!

hahaha yup same here. I have a woodworking business and my entire two stall garage is my shop. I usually have time out there after work normally and planned on getting a lot done while I'm off because I'm getting pretty backed up but I swear if she has me doing one thing, she has me to 1,000 things lol. But as long as my family and friends are safe, that's all I care about.

For those missing sports, NFL Network has the Vikings/Saints playoff game on right now. Just watched Rhodes get torched on that deep pass from Hill. Glad I dont have to see that happen anymore
