Alexander to Bengals

Post by Pondering Her Percy »

Wow the bengals just signed Alexander to a 1 year $4 million contract. I am blown away again. 1.) how do we not match that and 2.) I never expected him to take a deal that low.

I’m starting to wonder if they are that worried about the injury he sustained last year

I'm ok with losing him. I wonder if he didn't like Zim? Kearse signed in Detroit.

It may not be a question of matching it. He might have just wanted to play elsewhere.

Mentioned that he wasn't happy.

Alexander: 1 of 5 CBs to play 500 snaps and not commit a penalty in 2019

Appears there was a lot of unhappy people.

That or we simply didnt offer him anything. I never saw anything regarding we were trying to resign him. I'm just very surprised how low that deal was. Bengals drastically overpaid for Waynes but they definitely made up for it with Alexander.

too bad we couldn't keep alexander and weatherly, especially given the contracts they got. Would have helped fill two holes for cheap. :wallbang:

I dont think that was it regarding Mac. But I am bummed about this loss. He was our best CB this year IMO and for that price, I would've happily accepted him back. As for Kearse, he was being a diva like Diggs was. Which explains the two of them being close friends. I liked Kearse's potential and as a fill in option but dude, you werent ever going to start over Smith or Harris. So I dont know what you expected.

How are you okay with this?

When he went down, we had no one to play the slot.

4 million for our best CB. I am just completely at a loss over this off season so far.

Losing Weatherly and Alexander is very disappointing but I am happy for Alexander, he gets to keep playing with Waynes

I don't like short corners. I would rather have kept Kearse.

This loss cuts the deepest with me, because I was expecting us to retain Mac all along and think he was worth at least 6 Million a year. Killer.

Good point. Maybe they had both decided to part ways.

It's not a good sign that the team is losing so much "home-grown" young talent. Ideally, when trying to build, you want to be able to draft, develop and then keep talented players in their prime. What does it say about the Vikes that Waynes, Alexander, Diggs, Weatherly and Kearse are all moving on (Diggs via trade) after their first 4 or 5 years with the team?

Spot on Jim...And it's not like Mac and Kearse signed for big money.
Loosing them 2 hurt.
Also sounds we might be loosing Dan Baily also.
