To be fair, Christian Ponder was also amazing in interviews.

thanks for the link.

This, along with Zimmer's comments on how the #2 has a certain role makes me believe Sloter was never given a fair shot on purpose. Knowing how Cousins deals with pressure, I can see how an aggressive #2 could be a detriment to the team. My opinion of course.

I hope he gets a fair shot somewhere.

102 QBs(slight exageration) went down this season before any team added him to their 52 man roster. Sounds like 31 other HC's were afraid Sloter would cause a QB controversy too.

Eric Berry is a free agent still. There aren't 64 safeties better than him. Sometimes, teams have their guys in mind. Doesn't mean the guy doesn't have talent.

True. I think his limited college experience and being undrafted had something to do with him not getting a fair shake with other teams.

I still believe Sloter's care free attitude and Cousins fragile mind had something to do with Kyle being shipped out.

Sloter vs. Mannion illustrates my problem with Zimmer.

Sloter did look a bit lost in the TC practice I saw, but in preseason games it was clear he had far more future promise as a starting QB in the NFL than Mannion. Zimmer took a conventional, conservative approach to the QB2 position, siding with experience and ability to support QB1 over actual potential.

How many passes did he throw in that practice?

Lol omg dude. I guess the rest of the league doesn’t know what they are doing either. And he’s been on what? 2-3 teams since this preseason? But I guess “Zim isn’t giving him a legit shot”. How about, Kyle Sloter just isn’t very good?

Kyle Sloter ended the season as the backup to David Blough. And the Lions never put him in a game.

Can the myth please end?

I think joining the team in DEC had something to do with that.

Maybe he isn't' very good. I still think he's never had a fair chance to prove himself.

Preseason accomplishments mean next to nothing to NFL decision makers. A guy sucking in training camp means a whole lot. That is true across the board.

When you think about how rare guys who looked elite in the Canadian Football League and back in the old NFL Europe and XFL leagues were able to come in and make NFL rosters, that starts to make sense. Preseason games are so far removed from actual NFL games that what happens in them is mostly irrelevant. With the exception of playing poorly in them, THAT matters a lot.

Sloter was great in the most meaningless part of training camp, and bad in the most important part. Some fans saw that meaningless greatness and mistook it for something it wasn't.

I didn't count, but several times I said out loud, "holy balls, who the hell just threw that stupid pass/ didn't know which way to run the play/ looked utterly lost and took a sack" it was Sloter. He really stood out as bad. I went in very fond of him, and left TC with a different impression. It was just one day though.
