Performing poorly against the top team in the NFC > performing poorly against 3-6 Denver, who were trading their best players away and playing their Back up QB. Also, I am sure, in the offseason, BB showed film of the first half to the Pats. He's that kind of coach.
No that's where you're wrong.
I guarantee you, Bill Belichick did not replay the first half of that game like freaking Groundhog Day. Good coaches watch the film and move on.
""Let me tell you what scared me as a player. First day, team meeting ... no greeting, no nothing. He puts on the loss to the Jets in the playoff or something where they went home early. And he puts it on and rips into Tom (Brady). First meeting, no practice, like (in front of) everybody, and he's going on and he's at Tom's head. And I'm like, 'Is this a joke? Are we being Punk'd?' Because from my understanding, as a coach, you don't chastise your quarterback and you definitely don't do it in front of everybody."
"I was in the locker room after one game. It was a meeting room. It was me and Junior Seau and we had just beaten Baltimore," Seau said. "We won the game, Bill comes in -- We're 12-0 -- Bill comes in after the game and puts on this play, 'Hey Bruschi, hey Seau, how many years of experience do you both have? Fifty? In the National Football League? Look at this read.' And he rewinds the play over and over and over again."

Plus, I'd probably view Cousins a little differently if he won a couple of SBs for this Vikings team. Maybe be a little less critical. : )
Cousins has yet to prove himself.
Great performance in the 2nd half. I'd like to see more of that vs SEA.
• Prime time win. Check (twice).
• Prime time win against a good team. Check.
• Play well in a road win. Check, check, check.
• Comeback win. Check.
You must have a really long checklist. That's your right, I guess.
Here's the truth for you guys who believe Kirk Cousins can't elevate a team. In at least half our wins this year, he's the reason we won.
That being said, after the Chicago debacle, I was openly one who was ready to give up. I loved the signing, but I'd seen enough. But something has changed since then. This is a different quarterback. I'm actually feel bad that some of you can't see it. It's kind of enjoyable to watch.

Gosh, I can't believe you went to all that work in an effort to prove yourself right.

No, I'm not wrong.
After the game. See that. After the game. Not weeks or months later. Isn't that what I said? Watch the film once (as in one session ... rewinds are part of the session) and move on.

Why, after 50+ years following this team, do I continue to be surprised at the ridiculous negativity of Vikings fans?
We come back from 20 down, and the vast majority on of you on this board are COMPLAINING.
This is the NFL. You don't just walk over teams because your record is better. Denver is #4 in the league in defense. They have now lost four 4th-quarter leads. That means they're in every game. They're 3-7, but they can play, especially without Joe "The Statue" Flacco playing QB.
And by the way, where are all you Cousins nay-sayers now? I mean, I actually read one of you complain that he didn't "take a shot" on a free play? That's your criticism? Kind of a reach, don't you think? How many of you haters said that "if we ever get in a game where it's on Cousins' shoulders to bring us back, we're dead"? Oh wait ... it was a 3-6 team on a noon game at home. Guess it doesn't count.
The man was 29-of-35 for 319 and 3 TDs for a 133.2. Guaranteed, he'll be in the running for Offensive Player of the Week. Somebody's gonna have to seriously ball out to take the honor from him.
The bottom line is, in case you missed it ... WE WON. We're 8-3. We're breathing down the Packers' throats. How about enjoy it? Or at least allow us non-haters to enjoy it.
I used the free play as an example. I can use other examples (and have) but then that will be construed as being overly negative. Also, I don’t see it as hating, I’m just trying to break down the game, which included an absolutely embarrassing 1st half.
See... There's the problem. You should be able to voice your opinions no matter how negative. I'd really like to see posters respect other opinions no matter if they agree or not.

Fair enough. But where was Cousins bad in the first half? Seriously.
He was 12-of-14 in the first half. He took what was there. If we're being honest, our playcalling wasn't stellar, and our O-line was stinking up the joint. He did lose the fumble, and that's not something that should happen. I'll give you that. However, it was his first turnover since the Philly game, and that was a doink off Diggs' dome. Beyond that, his last turnover was Week 4 against the Bears.
Defensively, we were terrible in the first half. Offensively, we were also terrible. I agree. But that second half. Just amazing. And that includes the defense. They were gassed on that last drive. Nineteen plays. Yet they stopped the Broncos.

My point is he berated his LBs for taking one misstep on a play that didn't matter. You think excusing a whole half of #### play is cool.
And you think it's cool to blast a team that just won.
Let's just stop this conversation. I'm tired of defending the fact that I like this team.

I don’t let it stop me. I’ve never been one to shy away from disagreements but I think as long as you understand the other person’s point of view, it usually stays civil. Different priorities as well, some fans are here to enjoy the ride, others it’s championship or bust. Neither is wrong but depending on your viewpoint it’s bound to result in very different outlooks.

No one has said don't like this team.
No one is blasting them for winning.
Most people have said they are glad we won but we can't play like that in the first half vs. better teams. The first half was awful.

They gave up two 4ths and 5+. Not being able to get off the field is why the drive was 19 plays.

Again, your opinion. I still have my doubts he's turned a corner. Still think he's weak mentally. As good as his 2nd half was, his 1st half was just as bad. And I still think Cook was the reason the Vikings won most of their games.
I want to see a lot more from him before I'd want him for 3 more years and $100M. Imo, I think any decent QB would do well on this team this year.

Reading through this thread I wanted to say something very similar Kapp. I’ve said before, it’s a habit of cousins haters to find fault somewhere in his game. No matter what he does. Win, lose, comeback from down 20, doesn’t matter, they will always point a finger at him for something. If teddy had that comeback these same fans would think he’s the next Peyton Manning. Cousins doesn’t get credit for s*** when it comes to his haters.
Cousins yet again, shot down another narrative of something he “can’t do” and you still see complaining. We could play the dolphins right now and it’s not a given. No game is in the nfl. We adjusted and cousins carried this team to a win. If you’re going to sit here and complain about him, do us all a favor and refrain from posting on the board

We won the game, and 80% of the early posts are negative. I'm just trying to provide another point of view.
But you know, on this board, and in Viking fandom in general, if you're not trashing the team, you're considered some kind of freak who lives in a dream world and isn't realistic. And you somehow think YOU'RE being attacked? I have a right to express my opinion, too.
Lots of you see the first half as an abomination that should never happen. I see it as a potential turning point. Something this team can draw on the next time it gets down. How many times do we EVER come back? Last year against Buffalo, we got down big and folded the tent. This year, the team turned it around. I see that as a huge positive.

Where? Other than the fumble, where was his first half that bad?
If you want to engage in a productive conversation, then provide some backing for your statements. They aren't true just because you say they're true. He was 12-of-14 in the half and really didn't have a bad throw or a bad decision. The line was terrible. We had no running game. Again. other than the fumble, which I have acknowledged, where was the bad play by Kirk Cousins?
