Tannehill tore his ACL on Aug 2nd 2017.
I'm referring to when the Dolphins made the playoffs in 2016, he got knocked out for the season and Matt Moore finished it up. Regardless, the following year when Tannehill went down, they went out and signed Jay Cutler. Cutler was passed his prime but there wasnt a QB like Jay Cutler sitting on the market when Teddy went down. No less, the Dolphins didnt have near the roster we did. So if you wanted to go with Tarvaris Jackson or Johnny Manziel, we didnt have any other options at the time other making a trade. You're acting like a good QB was sitting on the market and we passed on them and made a trade instead. That didnt happen. There were no options. And Bradford was one of the only ones on the trade block because of Wentz. So again, using the Dolphins is a poor example.
This is 100% correct. There was no one who was going to come in and save that season.

The sad thing is, Bradford played well enough to get to the playoffs. His team didnt. Throwing for almost 4000 yards, 20 TDs and 5 ints in 15 games is pretty solid if you ask me. He's another one that had his bad games but he wasnt the reason we werent in the playoffs. Same goes for Cousins last year. Neither QB hurt us and forced us out of the playoffs. The entire team failed. Both years. Not just Kirk Cousins or Sam Bradford.

I don't know. I get tired of the nature of these discussions. We can't blame the Cousins or Bradford for the failures of his OL. We can't blame the OL for the failures of Cousin's. We also can't separate Cousins from the Oline, let alone the defense, etc. It doesn't make someone a Cousin's hater to point out his deficiencies anymore than it makes one a Cousins 'homer' to point out his strengths. I don't really understand the personal investment in 'blaming' or defending Cousins. He wasn't good enough in enough situations (some of them very difficult) to be successful. That's ok. That happens. So what? Give him fewer difficult situations by being better as a team. Also, there are realistic limits to how much those situations can be diminished. He will face difficult situations and in order for the team to succeed at the highest level, he will have to handle them better (on average) than he did last year. Let's see what happens.

Good post! I guess what bothers me is simply when fans think Cousins is why we went 8-8. Or they think we regressed because of Kirk Cousins. This TEAM and STAFF is why we went 8-8. Nobody is to blame. It’s the team as a whole. I think we will fix it and you will see the results this year. Simple as that. I’m not being a homer. I’m just being realistic that neither cousins or Bradford are what cost us those years. Nor was it the OL. It was everyone. The offense did at times, the defense did at times, special teams did at times, the coaches were horrible at times (or if you’re Flip, all the time), etc. Kirk Cousins is going to make mistakes. Some that could be costly. Everyone QB in the nfl does it. I mean the super bowl champions got smoked by the titans and lions this year and Brady was a train wreck. It’s something that’s unavoidable with any QB. But it’s not like Kirk was bad game after game and he’s what cost us. There were a lot of areas including staff that didn’t do their job. I think they will turn it around this year

Obviously not 8-8 and out of the playoffs....

If we do go 8-8 I hope everyone realizes it's not one player that causes that. Will 10-6 be a turn around. I think we need to win the division first. Knock the Bears off the throne. Many feel our better draft improved us more. With that we should be in. The games need to be played.
