Where to begin after another loss to Seahawks?

Post by Purplepain2018 »

The Vikings were beat before they got off the bus. The Vikings defense played pretty well, but there at the end with the Wilson 40 yard scramble even they QUIT!!! It is definitely hard to watch this team as they play without any emotion, zero leadership and looks like they are all ready to start their winter vacations. Please NFL do not put this team on any more prime time matchup games as they are beginning to be an embarrassment to us all. Lets check off the list of things that are wrong with this team:

Offensive Line: Terrible
Quarterback: Can only win at home; BAD Kirk comes out when playing on the road; too many turnovers
Running back: Cook does not get enough touches; when he does he looks good and then they just start throwing the ball
Wide receiver: Strength of the team; but you have to have balance with the running game
Defensive Line: Good young talent; Hunter and Weatherly; Griffen looks like he is done; Richardson too inconsistent
Linebackers: Bad; Barr finally came to play last night...where you been all year? Kendricks up and down; Gideon a joke
Cornerbacks: Bad; Rhodes have been open all year...Hill, Waynes look good; Hughes do not know yet
Safeties: Good; Smith and Harris good combination
Punter: Adequate
Kicker: I believe this position is cursed; Bailey supposedly the most accurate kicker and he misses at least one a game
Coaching: We have digressed; Zimmer are you the defensive coordinator or the head coach? Flip needs to be fired; Prieffer
same thing
There should be many changes this offseason as Flip and Prieffer need to go. Zimmer himself should take a long look in the mirror as this franchise deserves better than what we are seeing on the field.

Quite literally.

Why, oh why Kendricks, did you have to do that little jump on the duck ball Wilson threw?

Can't blame the defense on this one. They kept us in about 90% of the game.

I wanted to write my opinion in another thread, but there is just WAY too much. You made it easier by posting this and I can just elaborate, because I mostly agree with everything on your checklist.

I'm going to avoid being too critical of coaching because as a fan just watching the game, many times it's difficult to determine whether the play calling is bad, or just the execution of it.

The most glaring weakness for sure is the OL. There can't be much of an argument about that. It hugely affects the running game. No matter how good your running backs are, they can't keep getting hit in the backfield. They also can't pass block. Unlike a running back, an elite QB can overcome this, either by scrambling and keeping the play alive and eventually finding an open receiver (which Cousins can't do) or by being very capable at reading the defense, and blitzes and knowing, before the ball is even snapped, where the open receiver will most likely be. (which Cousin's can't do). So what we have is a QB that would most likely be adequate if he had an OL that could give him all day. I could list a host of QB's that have had good years with terrible OL's for some of them. (of course Peyton Manning would be the king of this). Btw, Keenum, though lacking some of the natural tools that Cousins has, was able to do BOTH of keeping plays alive and reading a defense.

So, as much as I'd love to see them advance to the playoffs, they don't have the OL, or the QB to advance far.

They can start by firing their OC...and they did. :D

The offense needs to scale back now and get back to the offense they were running the 1st quarter of the season.

So, as an answer to the Post Subject.....

Where to begin? Start figuring out a way to assemble a killer OL for next year.

That's a few steps down the road. Nothing they can do about that now. It will need to be addressed in the draft and by free agency. Where they go from here is scaling back the offense and getting back to what worked earlier in the season when this offense had seemed to be clicking.

I gotta say that I really haven't seen a game all year that overly impressed me. In my opinion, if you're looking to do something for this year, you'd be best sending everyone out in search of a 4 Leaf Clover. Hope I'm wrong.

With a statue as a QB (like we have), your offence relies on a good OL. We currently have possibly the worst one in the entire NFL. We all saw this coming.

Feel bad for Cook, Cousins as they are taking a lot of heat. But i really believe the GM needs to shoulder a lot of the blame. These issues were there even last season and they refuse to address them in the draft and free agency. It's so easy to be a DC against the Vikes. And it's 95% down to this crappy OL.

This offseason they need at to draft OL in picks 1 2 and 3
