Its possible its a smokescreen. Even if its not (i don't think it is), it doesn't preclude taking a WR in the 1st. It just says that fixing the offensive line will benefit the offense more than adding a WR. That seems evident to me all last season.

The Vikings will likely draft a wide receiver, but who?

Post by DK Sweets »

I could be wrong on this, but I think Zimmer was being honest. He thinks improving the O-line is more important than grabbing a receiver.

If it was Spielman, I'd say it was a smokescreen. That's his game. Zimmer's is either saying what he means or saying nothing at all (this is of course a generalization).

I think most people are looking at that statement and assuming it means looking forward to the draft, but I think he's actually just summarizing the offseason in general. Fixing the O-line is the major priority. If they don't do that, not much else matters on offense.

I think if they feel good with the current players they have at O-line, we could still see them go after a receiver. Notice that he places a higher importance on one group and not devaluing WRs. But that's just my take on it.

Was Zimmer using reverse pyschology? Or perhaps, reverse reverse psychology? Or maybe reverse reverse reverse psychology? Or reverse reverse reverse reverse psychology? Or..

Or maybe it's coach speak for "I'm tired of the offensive line sucking so we're going to do something about it."

The Vikings can draft all the WRs they want. That's cool. Just as long as they don't have a porous offensive line *again* next season. Every skill player needs the line to block efficiently. That includes WRs running routes. It especially includes Bridgewater and AD.

I think it's actually coach speak for "i want a steak burrito".

Cool! Are they even limited by the number of draft picks they possess or do they just get "first dibs" on all the WRs? I can't keep up with these constantly changing NFL rules. ;)

Just kidding, of course...

Amen to that.

Oline, Oline, Oline Oline. Teddy can't hit a deep WR if he's on his back and running scared all the time. The Game is Won IN THE TRENCHES. The ENTIRE DRAFT could be ALL Oline and I would agree. We have to start here before we can dominate

I can just imagine Spielman trolling us by literally using every pick on lineman and the board is just "bro we were kidding".

Mayock says only two wide outs are worth a first round pick... late round

He has Treadwell and Coleman as the top two guys ....

It sounds like Doctson Fuller and Thomas as second or later

I agree with Mayock. Not to knock Doctson or Fuller but I think they are R2 guys who will need some real development in the NFL.

From what I've seen of them in games, I think both Treadwell and Coleman are more NFL ready. That's especially true of Treadwell, who was impressive going against some tough SEC defenses. I also love his first name: "Laquon." :)

Treadwell I think will get nabbed before 23 ...

Coleman should be there ...I am hoping but don't think Patterson will get to the next level
in route running. time will tell.

I would like to see Pruitt and Jarius Wright get some more balls thrown there way, this season.
