dead_poet, are there any other safeties available?
My secret hope for Gipson has been dashed (he signed with the Jags for five years, $35.5 million). Other safeties available (keep in mind we still need to extend Harrison Smith for much dinero):
-Reggie Nelson (likely not going to be signed now)
-Eric Weddle (no interest thus far)
-Rashad Johnson
-Walter Thurmond III
-Rahim Moore
-William Moore
-Dashon Goldson
-Roman Harper
-Husain Abdullah

@christomasson Source says CB Marcus Sherels also likely to take another visit after Jets. Most likely Sunday. Does have interest in re-signing with #Vikings

I know it's already been reported that he is expected to be the starter but I'm really hoping that's misinformation and he's nothing more than a camp body. All I'm hearing and reading about this guy is that he is a liability in coverage and is a very bad tackler.

I don't know. Smith has looked great...but he looked great under Frazier as well.
Blanton and Sendejo.....not so much, no matter how much Zimmer has "coached them up"
Not very enthusiastic about this signing but who knows?
The thing with Griffen is that he was good at one time. Sendejo and Blanton were never good. I just have a weird feeling about this one. I think he will be better than some think

There's the likely mysterious offensive lineman that was referenced.
@JasonLaCanfora Despite recently undergoing shoulder surgery, ample interest in tackle Jermon Bushrod. Scheduled to visit the Dolphins and Vikings this week
I'm not sure how I feel about a declining OT who recently had shoulder surgery (not to mention numerous injuries the last two years) who was benched then released and whose play is declining. But given the utter lack of anybody decent at backup LT beggars can't be choosers. I'd imagine the contract wouldn't be very imposing.

He was very good at one time but has declined. Does give us a solid backup though. Zim is finding depth along the entire offensive line. If we land him we could have:
Charles Robinson is teasing us. He admitted Bushrod was ONE of the ones (other beat guys have said the Vikings are monitoring but no visit scheduled). Robinson's latest Tweet:
Let me put it this way, #Vikings fans...some guys, you'd rather wait until you know they're definitely on the plane.
The heck does that mean? I doubt it's as "premiere" as Okung. Maybe Vasquez? Wisniewski? (if so that'd be bad news for Sully I'd imagine). The way the riddle is framed makes it seem like the dude in question is at least decent. Maybe? Penn? Beachum? Grrrr...

Since it has been revealed, yes, Jermon Bushrod is one for the #Vikings. But as Yoda once said, "There is another."
Come on already!!! Just tell us! Chances are it's just getting my hopes up and it will be some dud but by the way he's talking, it's gotta be someone decent

My guess is if they're "monitoring" Bushrod that it's someone with some degree of LT ability. If that's true, it's either due to depth or to put some real competition on the $11 million cap-flipper.

Beachum maybe?? He's a small LT though (only 6'3). Okung? Andre Smith? Penn? Wisniewski at center?? Not many others worthwhile IMO
The suspense is killing me

You're telling me!
Maybe Bushrod was the only lineman he was referencing and it's someone like Amukamara. Zimmer reportedly went hard after Adam Jones so perhaps another corner? Maybe a possible starting MLB like Freeman to push Kendricks to the outside? Probably unlikely, that one. It'd be funny if it was Wallace.
