Thoughts Week 17
Good:
The defense was awesome except for parts of the 4th quarter.
Xavier Rhodes had his best game as a pro, including the play at the end knocking the ball down.
Kendricks is a STUD... he and Barr are going to be a force to be reckoned with for many years. I hope we can afford them both.
Adam Thielen had a great game, two HUGE plays.
It is a joy to watch every player contribute. I love this team, win or lose next week.
Bad:
Teddy played like he was nervous, and he probably was. He needs to get back to where he was last week and the week before.
Kalil was HORRIBLE. I am now on the "he needs to be replaced" camp.
Patterson's fumble was so bad... thankfully it didn't hurt the team at all.
The fumbled exchange after the INT was so bad... so, so bad...
Ugly:
The left handed throw... enough said of that.
Extra points:
As bad as the OLine has been this season, they were the only group to have started every game this season. While they have had their issues, it could habve been worse if any of them had gotten hurt. They stayed healthy and that was good to see. And special shout out to Clemmings who knew he was thrown out to the wolves too early, and he didn't shy away. Hopefully this season will be a learning experience for him and that he will be a good lineman for us for the next few years.
I liked what Robison said after the game as well: For the "older" guys, this is huge. I like Robison a lot, and I hope he finishes his career here in Purple.
And finally:
2015 NFC North Champions!!!

Oh, I forgot:
We can't win in primetime, on the road, against the Packers.
Say what?

Re: Thoughts Week 17
Good:
Griffin had a huge game. Came up big on third downs and also with the sack-fumble.
Fake punt call. Massive cajones with that call and great execution.
Defense. They won the game today.
Officiating seemed fair.
Bad
The offense. OL struggled. Bridgewater struggled. Peterson struggled.
Special teams. 2 fumbles, bad punts.
Ugly.
Matthews. He's just ugly looking.

Tom Johnson also had a great game and Munnerlyn has really picked up his game this year. McKinnon also had a nice game in brief relief.

Re: Thoughts Week 17
I have to watch a replay of the hail mary again. I thought Barr got his hands on the ball. Doesn't really matter. Don't forget the great 3rd down play by Rhodes fighting through a block and making the tackle in bounds.

Re: Thoughts Week 17
Purplemustreign.....you can't really blame the defense for being a little bad in the 4th considering how much they were on the field. Patterson's fumble gave them no time for rest, and the horrible 3 and out by our offense before that as well. They aren't superhuman.
If I remember correctly, we had the defense on the field WAYYYY to much against seattle, and they got gased. Our offense needs to sustain better drives if we have any chance.

Re: Thoughts Week 17
PMR, I was referencing the first sentence of your "GOOD" post. I know you weren't attacking them since its under the "GOOD" section. But I was thinking to myself during the fourth quarter, If we allow GB to tie this, it will look like our defense is to blame, when really they played their #### off and were put in some bad minimal rest situations.

Ya don't say, Teddy.808vikingsfan wrote:Bridgewater on the interception: "That's probably one of the dumbest plays in my career."
The good is the defense. Even Sendejo played pretty good.
The bad is the offense overall. Encompassing the offense as a whole.
The ugly of course was the int.
TB is so inconsistent, are we sure he is the real deal? I am still not sold on him.

Don't hate on my Buckeyes. Some of the best Vikings went to Ohio State.

The Packers out-possessed the Vikings 35:42-24:18 and I wonder what that statistic was in the 2nd half.MichViking wrote:PMR, I was referencing the first sentence of your "GOOD" post. Good:
Defense for sure. All week long we heard about how the Vikings were in trouble because Eddie Lacy was so successful against the Vikings in the previous game. That's where the Packers fell into the trap as much of their playcalling early in the game focused on getting Lacy established. He finished with 13 carries for 34 yards. The secondary did a fine job as well and while Rodgers got close to 300 yards passing much of that was in garbage time when as MichViking points out came when the defense was gassed. Everson Griffen came up huge with 2 sacks as well.
Bad:
Offense as a whole was pretty bad. Teddy didn't get much help from his offensive line, but he also missed on several throws and threw a brutal interception. The running game also struggled although the team as a whole rushed for 151 yards (Thielen had 67 yards off of 2 carries).
Ugly:
Teddy's interception, Patterson's fumble, Peterson's fumble.

Unless I'm mistaken, I think Lacy got pulled due to his ribs. He was looking less scary when he did play, and we did a good job of tackling with help on him.
The Seahawks have Lynch (likely) and Michaels, who looked unstoppable yesterday vs. AZ. Maybe the Cards had already given up? I only caught the 2nd half and that guy looked incredible.

I was 100% fed up with hearing how the Vikings couldn't do any of those things, so to see it all happen in one game felt amazing.
